Softberry gazed out of the entrance of the den to where the sun was setting. "Well, I guess I thought my paws were set on the path of a warrior like all of my denmates'. I played Catch the Tumbleweed and Warrior Hunt and was actually rather good at it." The medicine cat shifted her body to be a little more comfortable. "But there was a night, when I was merely a few moons old. Four or five, maybe. I was in a starry place which we'd been told only existed so high above us. Beautiful warriors with galaxies in their pelts and worlds in their eyes spoke to me, saying they had sent an omen to our medicine cat at the time that I was to succeed them. My paws, they glowed with the most beautiful light." Her eyes lit up at the memory.

Flowertail tried to envision what the medicine cat had seen in her dream. Beautiful lights, stars, cats with more wisdom then any other. "Do you still see these cats?"

"Sometimes, in my dreams. StarClan doesn't traverse to the living unless it's urgent." Softberry seemed to return to the land and looked at Flowertail. "Though I have heard of warriors that see StarClan in their dreams. They have their ways, sometimes telling me omens and sometimes random cats that have no way of knowing how to interpret them."

"I hope that some day I'll get to see them." Flowertail murmured. Perhaps her love would be there... but that was very unlikely. He was a rouge, his beliefs were far different then hers. In the end they'd be separated, and she never realzied it. Flowertail grew quiet, memories flooding back to her.[/color]

Softberry nodded and, seeing that the she-cat was thinking, grew quiet herself. Resting her chin on her paws, the medicine cat breathed out a gentle sigh and closed her pale eyes. She wasn't going to sleep, but taking a quick few moments to just relax would be good. Usually warriors and other cats were too intimidated to relax and share tongues with the medicine cat so she spent nights alone.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Hawkcry noted Batpaw's slight trembling when he placed his paws rather awkwardly on his bulky shoulders. The dark warrior grinned cockily and aloofly, knowing that the tomcat knew, fully well, just how powerful he was and just how easily he could beat an opponent. But I can't crush his will just yet.. Toy with him for a while longer before getting more serious, eh, Hawkcry?
With that, the apple blue-eyed brute wriggled his shoulder from the blind tom's grasp, ripping free. He still balanced precariously on his hind legs, but sooner or later his toned legs would buckle, for he'd never been too hot at staying upward for long periods of time. Before he toppled over and embarrassed himself, with his claws sheathed, he raked his paw across Batpaw's bony chest, swiping at him just to see his reaction.N O E Y E S

➹ Noeyes ➷ She-cat ➹ Elder of DesertClan ➷ 90 moons old ➹ Tags; Open! ➷
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Noeyes purred with satisfaction once the rabbit bones were securely embedded in the desert floor. She smoothed down the overturned earth for a bit longer with a blue, bony paw, before then turning tail and heading back home. Her old bones were exhausted, even from being outside for such a short time, and the spritely, elderly molly cursed herself and her lack of sight. Often, Noeyes couldn't help but wonder were she'd have ended up if shed been born with her eyes.. Would she still be DesertClan's medicine cat, or would her life have taken a different course altogether? Could she have found love and raised a family?
But the female wasn't one to dwell on the past, or what might've been, for very long. Before those morose thoughts could consume her, Noeyes pushed them aside, trying to stomp out her wonders. She stopped momentarily just to feel the cool, crisp, desert breeze sifting through her matted, patchy fur.. She stopped to feel the still-damp desert floor beneath her paws... She stopped to scent the air, and smelled nothing other than the faint odor of mousebile, coyote scat, and sand.. She stopped to hear the wind whistling through her waiting ears, and to hear the distant hoot of a desert owl.
Smiling softly in spite of herself after a while of standing in place, Noeyes continued on, walking home slowly, slowly, slowly. Now, her mind wasn't set on her unfortunate lack of sight, now it was set on the beauty, though she could not see it, of the desert. This was her home, and she knew that her Clan-mates loved and respected her... She wouldn't trade that for the world. Never.

➹ Jackalhowl ➷ Tomcat ➹ Warrior of DesertClan ➷ 36 moons old ➹ Tags; Open! ➷
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Jackalhowl nodded his massive, slightly-dripping head slowly, seeing reason in the molly's words and choosing to believe them. Could Grasstooth really return? After all of these moons and all of the seasons that have come and gone.. Could my long lost brother really return to his rightful home, his family? Would he be hateful and seeking revenge on me for nearly killing him, if he even survived? The homosexual tomcat shook his head a bit to clear his thoughts and respond to Whisperingnight, his yellow-green eyes still betraying his hope, "O-okay! I hope you're right.."
Then the black and gray she-cat was off, with a polite excuse and duck of her sleek head. Almost the instant she left, the rain began to stop, and the pale gray clouds began to roll away. It was almost as if StarClan was smiling down on Whisperingnight's words.. Almost as if it was a sign for Jackalhowl.. But the main coon took no notice of the possible signs that the lack of rain and visible sky portrayed for him, instead focusing with glee on the change of weather. He quickly poked his head out of the cover of his bush, unfolding his long, muscular, tabby legs and getting into a crouch with a grunt. Groaning as he stretched his cramped and curled up legs and flexed his rippling shoulders, Jackalhowl slid out of his hiding spot. It was very welcoming.. just to feel the cool, desert breeze of sundown billowing through his poof layer of fur and gently play with the fur at the tips of his oversized ears. Though he winced at the soggy, wet earth that squelched a bit beneath his massive feet, the lonely tomcat was happy nonetheless, that the rain had finally dispersed and let him emerge from his hideaway.F L A R E P A W

➹ Flarepaw/ears ➷ She-cat ➹ Apprentice of DesertClan ➷ 11 moons old ➹ Tags; Halfpaw ➷
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ She bounded up and over a sandy hill then, and the gorge came into view as the rumble of the Falls met her sensitive, namesake ears. Flare paw's feeling of being watched had left her by now, and she was sure she was in the clear and that she was alone. Slowing her brusque pace down to a gangly walk, she reached the gorge and glanced down briefly. The tumbling, bubbling, and roaring water was far, far below, and the river snaked from the waterfalls feet. The ebony cat then spotted a black shape hunched over the surging, dark waters.. and she realized that it was a fellow apprentice, Halfpaw.
The tomcat looked... rather upset, but Flarepaw couldn't really tell. She glanced upward at the darkening, color-streaked, sunset sky, deciding it was best to check in with the lonely-looking male and ask what was what. She had time, hopefully, to briefly interact with Halfpaw, take a dip in the Falls, and head back home, surely.
The boisterous female swished her tail before turning away from the edge of the gorge and bounding off towards the winding, rocky path that led down, down, down to the waterfall and its river below. The large-eared, skinny molly was quick as she descended, having traveled down this pathway many a time. In moments her paws met the scraggly, yellow grass that was at the bottom of the gorge and she soon felt the mist from the Falls deck her fur.
Flarepaw broke into a sprint to reach Halfpaw, who was a little ways away, farther down the river. When she reached the depressed male she slowed down, calling out to him, "Hey, Halfpaw! What are you doing down here? Something wrong?"S C O R C H S T A R

➹ Scorchstar ➷ Tomcat ➹ Leader of DesertClan ➷ 39 moons old - eight lives left ➹ Tags; Quailfeather ➷▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The long-legged tomcat listened intently to her words, his wide, emerald eyes watching Quailfeather's face and never leaving it as she spoke to him. He realized just how wise she was, and was, once again, struck and puzzled by the fact that he'd never even had the pleasure of confiding in the mottled molly.. It was a privilege to have her in DesertClan, and it was a privilege and, well, an honor, to call her his Clanmate.
Scorchstar identified all of this as she talked so firmly and compellingly to him, and he didn't dare to interrupt until her little lecture was complete.. He did however admit to himself that he liked her brief touch - he hadn't been comforted in a while, and it felt rather nice to feel like a helpless kit again. When she pulled away and awaited his response, the orange tabby leader meowed, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his maw, "I suppose you do have a point. I trust StarClan will lead us through these tough times - they've never let DesertClan or me down before.. And I know that whatever happens, in the end, everything will be all right."
He then, tentatively and slowly, reached out with his skinny, angular head and licked Quailfeather's ear as a thankful and kind gesture. When he pulled away, the male's eyes were brighter... The molly's words had given him something that he'd misplaced long ago, probably after his mate's death: Hope. This new feeling of hope would outshine Scorchstar's worries, and Quailfeather seemed to know that. "Thank you, Quailfeather... I regret hardly ever speaking with you in the past, but I hope the distance between us will end. You're a wonderful cat, and I am proud to be your leader, as well as your friend. Thank you again for opening up my eyes more than I, myself, thought possible."
{Reposting so this doesn't get lost! Noeyes is heading back to camp and Jackalhowl is outside the warriors den. I'm just waiting for responses from Red, Darkest, and Sprite for now ;A;}

Quailfeather ; silver tabby and white she-cat ; warrior ; tagged: Scorchstar
Content and relaxed, Quailfeather smiled as Scorchstar spoke to her, returning his steady green gaze. That fact that he hadn't been bothered by her touch was a relief to the silver and white molly. Her pelt was warm where it had been pressed ligthly against the orange tom's. It was so nice, yet so foreign, to feel so strangely comfortable and safe around another cat. The molly's amber eyes shone as he finally smiled back; happiness looked good on the leader, not that Quailfeather had the privilege of seeing it very often. "It will. One way or another, it will," she assured him, so very pleased to hear the tension fading from Scorchstar's voice.
Quailfeather was caught off guard when the tom leaned down to lick her ear, but not unpleasantly so. She purred quietly, amber eyes practically sparking in the blood-red light of sundown. "Don't regret it. I don't. I'm glad to be here like this today," she mewed, looking up at the taller cat. So very, very glad. She gently rested her tail against his side. "I wouldn't worry too much about ending it- I believe it already has. And Scorchstar? I'm proud to be your friend too. As for your eyes..." She reached up to poke the the angular cat's soft cheek with her nose, silver forepaws leaving the ground for a moment. "Great Starclan, you're impossibly tall. But, as for your eyes, let's keep them open, okay?" A playful smile spread across her muzzle as she settled her paws back down onto the sandy ground. For the first time in a long time, the small warrior didn't feel so lonely.Troutsplash ; grey-brown tabby tom ; warrior ; tagged: Dovestrike, Russetstorm, Pricklenose, Shiver
Troutsplash was taken aback by the molly's words. He tried his best to hide his surprise and concern, sea coloured eyes betraying his worry. No, no, no. You can't do that to your kits! He knew all too well what it felt like to like in a clan with no kin. They would have their siblings of course, and the clan would love them and care for them, but...
The tom took a breath, calming himself, and nodded to Shiver. "I see no issues with what you propose. You and your kits could be an asset to DesertClan. It is, however, not my decision. Our leader Scorchstar will make that choice. Unless any of these cats feel differently, though, we will guide to back to camp." Troutsplash gazed at the rouge with gentle eyes, wanting her to trust them. "You and your kits will be safe with us." He then turned to his clanmates, looking for any dissent with what he had said. Starclan willing, the three warriors would be alright with their patrol bringing her back to camp. Cactusfoot ; brown tabby tom ; elder ; tagged: Silverkit, Jackalhowl
Upon realizing that Silverkit had no intention of leaving the elders' den anytime soon, Cactusfoot got to his feet. He stretched his old, tired body and rolled his once-powerful shoulders, cloudy green eyes blinking as they slowly adjusted to the weak light of sundown. "Sorry, kit, but I'm all out of stories today. 'Dunno when Noeyes will be back. Won't your mother be looking for you?" The tabby tom shrugged to himself after a moment and turned, padding slowly from the elders' den.
He had avoided being outside earlier due to the rain, and he had to admit- the fresh evening air was nice. Brown ears pricked, he glanced around camp, desiring someone to enjoy the pleasant change of weather with. Cactusfoot blinked when he noticed Jackalhowl sitting outside the warriors' den looking uncharacteristically... happy? No, not totally. But not entirely miserable and mopey, either. Unable to help but be curious, Cactusfoot made his way over to the younger tom, his old, worn out tail twitching slowly and erratically behind him. "You look rather at peace," he rasped, not bothering with a greeting. "Are ya feeling alright?"
