welcome to the club, jinx!
my favorite from the new album is Fourth Of July. I have so many good memories from just this year alone that go along with that song. Plus ?? It's just so good; Pat's voice is amazing, as well as the instrumentals. And the lyrics are really great too.
( it kind of reminds me of an older song, Bang The Doldrums. I dont know why. Probably just because of the songs' themes, of recklessly living and loving like there's no tomorrow.)

My favourite song from the new album...
I don't know, don't make me choose. This cruelty. I can't. No

Mine would be, most definitely, A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More "Touch Me" or The Phoenix.
I've said that A Little Less Sixteen Candles would be my theme song for a while because I find that one of the lyrics
"I set my clocks early 'cause I know I'm always late"
Is just the story of my life. I am late for everything. I am notorious for being late.
And also Phoenix because when that come son my playlist I like to imagine I am Patrick walking up that street looking for vixens and stuff and I proper go on a march down the street because I can.

my favorite on the new album is probably novocaine because it's such an aggressive song and that's really the only reason why.
irresistible is a close second, but i feel like the chorus is kind of totally irrelevant?? the rest of the verses are so full of meaning and i just feel like the chorus, as far as the lyrics go, are kind of random. it doesn't make it any less enjoyable, obviously, but.

okay, this question is really hard to answer. i want to say champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends because of the "they say, 'you want a war? you've got a war.' but who are you fighting for?" part and the "we drown traitors in shallow waters" part, because hashtag relatable, u feel me? but that'd have to mix with the (shipped) gold standard, because it makes me feel really strange in a really good way. like, chicago (oops ugh im so basic) screams for me, and my heart is just being pulled there, and i just want to leave here, you know? i don't know. both of those songs just resonate with my soul.

I love those songs. I was singing The (Shipped)Gold Standard's Chorus (I want to scream I love you from the top of my lungs) To my friend as I joke on my riding yard and anyway there were clients behind me and I didn't realise and I spun on my heel, saw them, let out like a raptor screech and then ran into the wall...
I really love Champagne For My Real Friends because the lyrics are beautiful. I really like them. I can just relate to pretty much any Fall Out Boy song.

when i look for songs that are to be considered my theme songs, i usually look to the lyrical side of them.
but when it comes to fall out boy, their instrumental sound sometimes finds a way to describe me as well.
thats why i have two "fob theme songs".
the first one is a more lyrical theme for me, I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth. The lyrics leave a very bitter and longing feeling, which i think is just great. the lyrics clash with the instrumentals when it comes to the vibe they give off, since the instrumentals are more so bittersweet than bitter, and more so reminiscing than longing.
instrumentally and vibe-wise, however, i think Hum Hallelujah is very good at describing me. The lyrics to it are rather relatable as well. the recklessness of the chorus and instrumentals and then the calmness of the bridge is simply perfect.

@destroya!;; i feel you on that one, mannn. i've got a dark alley is not only one of my favorite songs by fall out boy, but it's lyrically the most powerful and stands out to me the most. i'm just a mess most of the time. my favorite parts are, "we're the kids who feel like dead ends," "and the poets are just kids who didn't make it, and never had it at all," "half dead from comparing myself to everyone else around me," "blame everyone but me for this mess," "and my back has been breaking from this heavy heart," and pretty much the song has a whole, if you haven't noticed. it's just so good. ugh. yes. my anthem.
there's a lot of songs by fall out boy that make me feel very vengeful about a certain situation. they aren't really my anthems, but sometimes lyrics just make me want to scream and throw myself off a cliff because yes. for example, the pros and cons of breathing when he says, "i want to hate you half as much as i hate myself," and "hide the details. i don't want to know a thing." yeeee.

☁xxx Sorry to butt in - you might be thinking of "The person that you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger" from miss missing you? That's what it reminded me of lol
My favourite from the new album would probably be where did the party go or novocaine, honestly, I really love them both.

I'd love if it were one of the older songs but it would be jet pack blues for me. "The ringing in my ears gets violent" is so relevant because I have tinnitus which kind of sounds like a phone constantly ringing, and there are a lot more private reasons to do with a previous relationship that really just hit me, ya know?
I'm sure that'll change one day though, haha.

@Aaron✦;; ah, i see, i see. i knew it wasn't a fall out boy lyric. that's why i got confused lmao. i was like >:0 my life is a lie.
i think it's honestly quite hard to pick a specific theme song. there are different parts of all songs that speak to me and represent me in a personal way that only i understand. that's the beautiful thing about any art form, especially music. that's why i appreciate artists that don't go too into detail about how they feel about the songs. they leave some of it to us to interpret and discuss. it's one of my favorite things to talk about. relating lyrics to the world, or to the artist who wrote them, or to myself. it's something that literally never gets old to me, y'know? like, i will never get tired of talking about it because i can never have the same conversation about it twice. my mind and feelings are always changing, so my interpretations of songs are always changing.
that was kind of a rant but yo man what can i say i'm just passionate
