Just found out my rattie girl Delta has Pyometra. Totally unexpected.
have a vet visit scheduled for monday...

Hello everyone! Today I picked up the hamster that was surrendered to my rescue. His name is Bear-Bear. The owners said that they had him for a year or two years. The little guy is a dwarf, but I'm not sure what breed. I'm fairly certain that the poor boy has mites. I happen to have a friend who just graduated from vet school, and so I video chatted them. They said I can order a medicine (that I can't remember the name right now) to help him. I'm getting him into our vet soon, for the medicine won't be here for a few weeks. Does anybody have any idea how I can make him more comfortable until I can get him meds? The pictures aren't that good, but they show his hairless spots. I'll try to get better pictures soon.

I highly recommend rubbing coconut oil on him.

Hershel passed away. But his brother is all alone now. We haven't even had them 6 months so I don't think leaving him alone will be a good idea.

My options are to have a lone boar or neuter him and get him sow friend. Has anyone been through something similar or can give me some advice on how to make the best out of everything for Daryl?

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for your loss.

Now I don't know what species of animal you're talking about ( guinea pig, rat, hamster etc. ) but I would say try and get him out to play with you as much as possible. Put a small cut out of a soft blanket in his favorite hide so it feels like he has a friend. If you can, I would try introducing a new friend. Maybe try and find an already fixed female, but you can always neuter him, wait for him to heal, and then get him a girl friend if the species doesn't get along with males, but if they do, then get a male(:

I write this with a heavy heart; my darling rats are both dreadfully ill, but one is much more sick than the other and as much as it pains me to say this, I fully expect him to pass in the next day {I'm afraid I cannot get him to a vet for another 16 hours since my father is the only one who can drive and has work}. They both have respiratory infections {I'm afraid I cannot be any more accurate since I was not at their vet appointment and my mother didn't specify}, but it's clearly affected the younger one much worse than it has the older one, the younger one {Nugget} would take some of the medicine given to him when mixed into some yoghurt but struggled to eat much of it, which was a distressing sight, and the older one {Nut} refused to eat any of it until I had left him alone for a long period of time. {They are both afraid of humans, I got them from a rescue and they've always been like this - biting whenever I put my hands near them} Nugget is so ill that he doesn't even flinch or move whenever I pet him. I am obviously deeply upset about Nugget right now, but I'm so, so worried about Nut. He will lose the only partner he's ever had, and not only that, I don't think I'll be able to get him {a} new partner{s}, and I'm deathly afraid since without any contact he will likely spiral downhill fast but with my contact he might spiral much quicker.

It seems very unfair to have Nut put down just because Nugget passed away, but I fear this will be the eventuality unless he somehow decides to bond to me after being afraid of me.

I know this is very rambly, but it's 2 am and I can't sleep and my rats are ill, and I begin college in a day, and I just have no idea what to do.

Oh god, I think Nugget's had a stroke - when I googled it that was the only thing I could really find - or something terrible has happened, he's lying on his side and appears unable to move. I'm worried about when he last had something to drink, so I tried to give him a drink but he wont even move for that, and when I tried to give him water through a syringe he would wipe the side of his mouth with balled up fists. I'm too afraid to stress him out by moving him but he is bruxing and I think he's really uncomfortable. - He also just stood up and was very wobbly, I'm so so worried.

I'm so worried and have no idea what to do. I know I'm not meant to ask for medical advice but I need advice on how to make him more comfortable.

I hope he'll be okay, its a hard thing to see your pet ill and not be able to do anything about it.
