Future Plans
Isì drummed her nails on the wooden bar of the fence she was leaning against, brilliant green eyes scrutinising the every movement of the red dun Narakari in the paddock. She and Hysmine had been working together for a couple of months now, long enough that Folkvangr had begun to ask what she was training the stallion towards. The prospects of using him for any competitions or indeed anything around people were still a way away, but the alien had a point. The majority of the Narakari at these stables were used in competition, so she was in the right place if she wanted to take that path. She couldn't ever see Hysmine wanting to work, and his partial blindness and easily spooked nature didn't point towards him being a racer. He got bored easily and had a lot of power behind his delicate movements, too much for him to focus solely on the technical perfection of dressage despite his grace.
"Hey."
Even with her enhanced senses usually warning her to the presence of others, Isì jumped at the sound of Amai's voice behind her. It figured the kitsune would be around though, Caffè Macchiato - her beloved mare, was in the next paddock over.
She greeted her in return, vaguely confused by the other suddenly approaching her.
The pink-haired kitsune nodded towards Hysmine, who had noticed them and was watching curiously from the back of the paddock.
"You thinking about what you two are going to do next?"
"Yeah." Isì sighed in response, resting her head in her hands. "He's just so... conflicted. I know he's got talent but it's all so spread out. How is he supposed to specialise?"
"Hmm." Amai was silent for a moment, biting her lip. "Ever thought about trying to make him an eventer like Macchi? Ah-" She cut her off before she could respond. "It is a lot of work, but no more than it has been to tame that stallion in the first place."
Isì couldn't help but turn to face her in surprise. "You really think he's got the potential?"
The kitsune laughed, "I know he has, but I'm sure you have a better idea of it. I've seen him jump, and there's no denying he's got the moves. Think about it, yeah? It'd be good to have another friend in the eventing world." With a smile and a wave, Amai headed off towards the stables, leaving Isì to ponder her words.
"Huh. I know what she means." She said aloud, grinning as Hysmine wandered over to see her now the other had left. "Think we can do it, boy?"
The red dun snorted, a movement the nature spirit could only take as his agreement.
It'd be a lot of work, but Isì herself had already ridden in all the disciplines involved at competition level. The main problem would be bombproofing Hysmine, but that they'd just take one step at a time.
