I don't really understand why you are criticizing the appearance of a real thoroughbred? XD
They are making a portrait model of him because of what he accomplished, not because he's some flashy paint horse.

I was debating on saying the same. Besides I'm sure soon, if they don't make more models of him, that one will be quite a lot of money. Secratariat I'd say is plain-er than A.P., but has 5+ models and people still want them.

Wow I haven't posted on here in absolutely ages! Hehe well breyerfest sounded really fun, wished I could have gone but yeah much too far away I wasn't really a fan of the special runs this year apart from Enchante and the appaloosa one which I can't remember the name of. Next year's breyerfest sounds really good, plus I think the celebration model will be on the weathergirl mold as it's supposed to return in 2016 too , next year seems like the year to go! I won't be going though . So I haven't been on here since February so here's a list of the breyers i have bought since then

I totally understand....I am not knocking the actual horse! A lot of my favorite real life horses are bays and they are beautiful, but from strictly a model horse perspective, I will not be getting him because in my opinion I only collect models that are aesthetically eye catching to me, and the model does not appeal to me! Also sometimes breyer bays lack shading and detail (not always!). Haha sorry I guess I could have explained myself better

I really hope either the celebration model or a special run is a weather girl because it will be the first year I go and I have been searching for a reasonably priced weather girl forever! I'd also love to see what your newsworthy resculpt looks like if you have pictures!!

Is anybody on model horse hobby reference page? I recently purchased a horse from mhsp and the person I bought from told me I should sign up there...and I think I did, but now I am having trouble logging in to the new yahoo account so I think I might have to make another account !

I wouldn't say criticizing. I'd say it's more expressing an opinion. He's just not the kind of horse I'd buy. No, I'm not saying he's a waist of money, however it may seem that way. I know the artist clearly spent a good amount of time making the model, and the horse deserved to be made into a model. I'm just saying that I'd rather spend my 54 dollars on another horse. I like horses that are a bit more appealing to the eye. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the horse in real life, or that bay horses/thoroughbreds are boring/plain, but when it comes to buying a model, my view is just a bit different. I didn't mean to offend anyone, or make them angry.

I think name, breed, gender and entry number on one side, and your name on the other....but usually you have to check what the show you're going to wants on them...some shows want different things

Oh man... here I am trying to sell off most of my collection, then I see a random craigslist ad where someone was trying to sell off most all of their really extensive collection for pretty cheap....

I picked up 9 horses from them, Breyers and Stones. $250 for all 9 of them, plus some Gen1 Stablemates. All in boxes. All fairly old, she stopped getting new ones 10 years ago. I got:

Seattle Slew
Lonesome Glory
Strapless (my childhood grail... finally)
The original Secretariat (the one with the rose garland)
Lone Ranger's Silver
AQHA Go Man Go

And three REALLY pretty ISH mold Peter Stones.

I'm like... exhausted from this. She had probably over 200 models. She had wood grains. She had glossy charcoals. She had original bulls, chalkies, pearlies, you name it, she had it, probably with the original box. She had Stones signed by Peter Stone! I'll probably ask her again later how much she still has left and see if I can pick up a few more for really cheap. She is quite the collector. I was really impressed. We talked Breyers for like, an hour. She didn't even say she had Stones in the ad! Just showed me the room she had all her horses in (and she said she had more that were in storage and weren't even out!), and there were a bunch of Stone boxes. Honestly I practically fainted.

So are you guys able to tell if a model would do very well with showing? I wanna get into that kind of scene but my collection is.. Lacking to say the least. I believe the model I have is called Stud Spider-
