Semper Fi nudged Strike gently, waking her up. "Strike, wake up. We gotta get back!"

Strike's eyes flew open and she snapped her teeth towards Semper Fi's paw, almost biting it before she shook her head and pulled back, then got drowsily to her feet. "Sorry," she said, blinking several times in the light of the rising sun. "Old habits and whatnot. You're right, though. We'd best head off if we're to make it to the forest anytime soon. It's a long trek by paw."

"You're still not strong enough to create electric wings?" he asked, concerned. SF didn't even flinch when she snapped at him, simply pulled back lightning fast, so fast you'd wonder where such a bulky, large-shouldered wolf got so quick. Semper Fi's reflexes were so advanced from being in the army that it was like a sixth sense for him. SF said, "I can make wings, but they're sort of wimpy and pathetic." Fire wings sprouted, thin and short.

Strike closed her eyes for a moment, searching in her own mind for the power that usually came so easily. After a while she opened her eyes and looked at Semper Fi. "The power just isn't there," she said. "Not even enough to take electricity from the sky, if there was any."

"Alright, Strike." SF responded, still a little perturbed. Strike had always had a wide, vast amount of power; how could it simply disappear? Setting off, he flicked his tail at Strike, sending a silent signal for her to stay as quiet as possible. Tracking a young buck, he scented the deer and easily slid forward, twitching his ears to signal for Strike to go around to the back of the deer.

Strike grinned, flexed her claws, and sunk low to the ground. Normally she would use an energy cover to hide her scent, but since she had no power at the moment, she would just have to do this the old-fashioned way. The white she-wolf crept behind the deer, ears and tail low, eyes fixed on every movement. The buck was standing nervously, sensing something was there but not quite sure what it was yet. He stamped his front hooves threateningly, and brandished his antlers towards one of the bushes. Good, thought Strike. He doesn't know where we are.
