[strawberry fields]

the most popular group in school decide to spend the first few weeks of their summer vacation
camping. for them it means finding a pretty spot, getting the boys to put together their ridiculously
huge tents and then complaining for the rest of the time they are there that they want to go home.

when they arrive at the spot they chosen, to their disgust another group at their highschool has
already beaten them to their perfect area - the nerds. the two groups despise each other, the
popular kids mildly appauled by the nerds blatantly obvious weird personalities and intelligence,
whilst the nerds are fed up of being pushed in the hallways and verbally abused every time they
accidentally come across the clique of pretty faced individuals.

whilst the popular kids hide inside of their flashy, overpriced tents, the misfits are sat around
a campfire in the middle of their shabby tents, laughing and toasting marshmallows. the groups
generally try to avoid eachother as much as possible. but of course, there's something else going on:
there are two closeted relationships between the groups, and many secret crushes forming. really,
all of them want to talk to and get to know eachother, but are too scared to admit it to their friends.
if they gave eachother a chance, then maybe they would leave with new friends, or even lovers.

literacy
even though this is not in the semi lit forum, this roleplay is still going to be just that.
this means i would like you to be able to post at the very least four lines per post. if
you do not think that you can write that much even with muse, then this is not the
roleplay for you.

please pm me if you are looking to reserve a character spot. reservations last twenty
four hours and if you do not post within that time without giving me a reason why your
spot will be opened up for somebody else. if of course you need more time, shoot me
a pm and i will gladly extend your time!

characters
two of the relationships in this roleplay are same sex. if you do not support, or feel
comfortable with that then please do not join. please do not make your characters perfect.
everyone has flaws and your characters should, too. maybe its physical or emotional within
their personality, maybe they had a bad past. go wild with their imperfections. also, make
sure your characters are aged from sixteen to eighteen.

you can make forms as detailed or as vague as you please aslong as you show your
literacy capabilities to me. i would like you to post your forms on the discussion thread
and only there. also i would like you to disable signatures when posting on this thread.

♂ + ♀ the princess and the shy guy.
shes the queen bee, dating the star jock. together they run everything. she's
loved by many, hated by more and has a reputation of being cruel and bratty.
but it's not true - she just puts on a front. as her popularity grew, she felt she
needed to put on a front.
he's a wallflower - sticks to the sides with his head buried deep in the latest
book he's bought. he ignores everyone outside of his group and even then,
he's hesitant to talk to the people he's befriended.
when these two meet it's love at first sight. she is curious about this
mysterious boy, and he can't help but want to get to know her on a deeper
level.

♂ + ♀ the good girl and the rebel.
a straight A student, her parents and school see a bright future ahead of her.
she's constantly told she has to do well to get into a good college, pressured
to succeed and to keep on top of her extra homework. she stays in studying
every night. tired of this life, she longs for something new in her routine of
stress.
he's gone off the rails and no one knows why. he stays out past curfews, gets
into trouble with the cops regularly and isn't interested in the people hurts.
the only time they speak is when arguing in class or when the groups clash,
but neither can deny the butterflies they feel deep in their stomachs when
they catch each other staring.


♂ + ♂ the jock and the nerd.
he's captain of the football team, dating the queen bee of the school. he laughs
along when his friends bully other kids and kisses his girlfriend when he's
expected to, but he has two very dark secrets hiding under his skin. firstly,
he's gay. secondly, he's dating the nerdiest boy in school.
he's the leader of the misfit and nerds, obsessed with video games and making
sure he's got good grades. none of his friends know of his secret relationship.
they act like they hate each other to their friends, even play up to their roles -
the jock occasionally shoving him in the corridors, shouting abuse at one
another. they love each other, but are scared of being rejected by their friends
and their school.

♀ + ♀ the emo and the cheerleader.
already openly out of the closet, the words 'dyke' and other offensive terms
hang around her as she walks down the corridors. she doesn't care, doesn't let
it bring her down. she wears dark clothes, has a crazy colour hair and her style
just screams alternative.
a stereotypical, energetic and bubbly head cheerleader holds her heart. she's
a natural leader and spends most of her time doing cheer practice, but still
makes time for her girlfriend.
the two aren't so secret about their relationship and people wonder if they are
together or not, but usually most think they're simply best friends and nothing
more. they're the only two who openly get interact and talk within the groups.

Giving a small 'whup' sound from her lips, Nina balanced a box of cola cans on her hip as she pulled the back door of her little truck down. It looked empty without all the tents and sleeping bags rolled up in it. They'd set up last night, and after struggling endeavoring with the tents most of the evening she'd been too tired to unpack their provisions properly last night, besides, her tiny tent was awfully cozy. She'd also brought out a loaf of bread and a box of Tea bags. Tea sounded good right now, But it might have to wait she mused idly, looking down at the ashes of the previous night's campfire, it wasn't even smoking now, she'd have to start it up again if she wanted tea, so she might as well wait for the others to wake up. She set the boxes down near the fire and took a seat on the earth near it, uncaring if she dirtied her shorts. The same shorts and old band shirt she'd curled up in last night for sleeping. She had her dark spectacles on though, she could hardly see without them anyways.

joey emerged from his tent a couple minutes after hearing someone else outside the groups huddle of tents. honestly, he felt groggy and run down from the night before of trying to set up his tent and joining in the group effort of starting the small fire they had, which was probably out by now. his muscles ached and his eyes felt slightly heavier, but he still had a stupid grin on his face from the love he felt towards his friends which was only accentuated last night in cold puffs of air and an orange haze flickering on his friends skins. they all looked so beautiful in the dim light and joey will remember a moment like that for the rest of his life.
he glanced around, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose and burying his hands deep into the pockets of his hoodie. seeing nina unloading her truck, he made his way towards her.
"you brewing up?" he asked, looking at the ashes and dust from the fire set up last night. he scratches his head awkwardly, his scruffy bedhead making it hard for him to successfully reach his scalp. "i would die for a cuppa," he sighs dramatically in an attempt to guilt trip his best friend.

Whoever's idea it was to park their vehicle a little way away from the campsite and then trek there was currently in Chloe's bad books; her hair was already an untamable flare of ginger that wouldn't get out of her face and she hadn't enjoyed the supposed 'thrill' of waking up early. She was leant quite heavily against Oliver, the weight of a rolled up tent under one arm whilst she used Oliver as her means of keeping upright. There was already no appreciation for Beca's early morning awakening. "Oli?" Chloe yawned sleepily, trying to lessen the amount of weight she was putting on him whilst reducing her voice to a more hushed tone, "How exactly is this going down? You sharing with Spencer or not..?" It wasn't in her nature to press the issue but her friend seemed very oddly unhappy, maybe it was just her over-protective imagination that was causing her to have considerably delusional thoughts but a part of her was curious to know whether or not her oldest friend was keeping something from her.

xxxxxthe idea of going camping with his friends made oli rather excited, believe it or not. the pale, light-haired boy hadn't gone camping in over ten years, his father was always busy with work and seemed to not care much about oli. the only time the man praised his son was when he made the football team and got a girlfriend. which was one of the reasons he was too afraid to come out as gay, his father would be furious. as oli and his friends neared the campsite, these were thoughts that were running through his head.

xxxxxoli snapped out of his thoughts as a familiar voice said his name. switching his piercing blue gaze to the girl who was using him as support while walking, he hoped she didn't expect that anything was wrong with him. he hadn't been speaking as much lately due to being so deep in thought, and one of the people he could trust to notice was his childhood best friend, chloe, who was currently attempting to reduce the weight she was putting on him. oli didn't mind that she was leaning on him at all, he could tell she was barely staying awake. "hm?" he hummed in response. as chloe asked whether he was sharing with spencer or not, he tried to put on his best 'is that even a question?' face. "of course i am," he said, hoping to sound convincing. it wasn't that oli didn't like spencer, he actually found her sarcasm hilarious and liked her as a friend, it was just that he didn't feel anything between them. he was too nervous to break up with her, it was sort of expected by everyone for them to date. you know, the star jock and the queen bee. together. it was basically like the perfect cliche high school story, except that oli was actually gay and secretly dating the nerdiest boy in the school.

xxxxxas they approached the campsite, oli's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as he came to a stop. there was a truck parked there, along with a bunch of tents where their stuff was supposed to go. "what...?" oli murmured, obviously puzzled. "what are they doing here?" he referred to the people who had 'stolen' their spot. as a familiar figure came into view, oli's light blue eyes widened and his heart started beating in his chest like a bullet. it was joey, who seemed like he had just woke up and was looking really cute with his bedhead. oli immediately felt bad. they would have to share a campground, and joey would be there to see spencer and oli together. it broke oli's heart every time he had to act like he wasn't interested in joey at all. it hurt him when he had to abuse him just to keep his reputation and avoid the school finding out. it especially hurt when he had to kiss spencer in front of his secret boyfriend. if joey was there, that meant the rest of the nerds were there with him. the the populars and the nerds had quite a rivalry, except for chloe who was great friends with nina. oli gulped rather nervously as he glanced over at his friends, expecting them to say something. they had no idea how nervous he was, or why.

Pushing a long, unruly strand of fiery orange out of her face, Chloe walked quietly beside her friend with her face creased in a contemplative frown. It was only when she heard Oli finally respond that she looked up to concentrate on the words that were leaving his mouth; unfortunately she didn't find herself taking too well to both his tone and the face he pulled. Herself and Oli had been friends for the best part of forever, in fact, Oli had been the one to introduce Chloe to Beca, so why he was keeping something clearly bothersome from her was obviously now attracting most of her attention.

Truth be told, if Oli was keeping something from her then it must be the most serious of serious things because there was very little that Chloe and Oli didn't exchange. Though.. for the moment, Oli purely believed that both herself and Nina were only very close friends, which, wasn't far from the truth but also wasn't the whole truth, so they were sort of stuck because she was a hypocrite if she confronted him about keeping something from her but then she felt sort of left out if she didn't. When he supported her already lazy body with his shoulder she found her thoughts a little more distracted by the fact that just maybe she could go to sleep once her tent was up. Chloe felt Oli tense at the side of her and then heard him mention someone else being there which obviously caused her attention to snap towards the campsite where her eyes instantly caught the tall figure of one of her most favourite people and she happily found herself sighing, "Nina.." before she cleared her throat and straightened up; this was going to be interesting. "Do we just.. move camp a little further down? Or, y'know, just say 'hey'?"

The chances of them just saying 'hey' is possibly less than the chance of me developing time travel this trip, she thought to herself, instantly losing her thoughts to the possibility of time travel.

Nina's tired mind didn't have the capacity right now to bicker with Joey. Instead she breathed a small 'yeh' and got back to her feet, she approached her truck again, taking out two large, industrial bottles of water and a few pans. She left them by the fire to be filled up later whilst she set about re-kindling it. She threw a few thick logs onto the ashey patch they'd outlined with stones, as a proper fire should be before cramming a clump of dead grass and leaves into the center, then lit a match and let it burn. Eventually, it warmed up and the flames licked into life. She then rested a metal frame over it and filled the pan with water and left it to boil. Nina hadn't done much camping before, but she'd lit plenty of fires, nothing dangerous usually, but she was something of a fire bug and would often invite her friends round to roast marshmallows and chill out. She stood for a moment, enjoying the sight of the flames. "Give that a minute."

When she noticed the approach of other figures she looked up, expecting it to be the others having coming out of their tents. But she was thrown off guard when it was the few people on earth that she really didn't want it to be. A deep frown creased her lips as she spotted Oli, how dare he show up here. Testosterone-ing up her campsite, what cheek, what nerve! If he was here, no doubt the others were not far behind. And she'd been looking forward to a week or two not being called, of not having to make snide remarks to keep other girls away, to defend herself. No, now she had to deal with this.

So far was she into her mental tirade, she almost failed to notice the familiar mane of red hair that belonged to her girlfriend, almost, and when she did, her form softened a fraction.
