~Chapter 2- Nervousness~
Later that night, Pit was sort of picking at his food during dinnertime.
“Pit, are you okay?” Asked a voice right next to him that sounded familiar, “You seem down or nervous or something.”
Pit sighed. “Yeah I'm fine, Lady Palutena.” He replied, “I-It's just that I'm nervous about, well... I'm kinda nervous about the newcomers...” Lady Palutena smiled as she scooted a bit closer to Pit.
“It's okay.” She comforted, lightly stroking Pit's hair, “Just because there's newcomers doesn't mean they won't like you.”
“Lady Palutena,” Pit said, “It's not just the newcomers, I'm fine with whoever's coming to the Smash Mansion because I know I'll be able to make new friends and meet new people. It's just...I'm really, really nervous about one of them, okay? I-I would tell you but...they told me not to tell you. And, well...you never know what a newcomer like that would do to me if I told, so please, please,
please don't make me tell you. He or she or whatever would probably hate me if I told you!”
“But if you were told by that newcomer, wouldn't they be from our game series? You know, Kid Icarus?” Palutena asked him.
Pit sighed once more, having no idea what to say to the goddess who would care for him in his game series. He was out of words. “They just want it to be a surprise, alright?” He asked her, “And I don't want to spoil it for them, really.”
Palutena sighed. “Okay.” She said, “You don't have to tell me then if neither you or them want to tell me.”
Pit smiled at the goddess. “Thanks, Lady Palutena.” He said, “I'm glad you understand. Oh, and thanks for understanding, too.”
This was enough to make the goddess chuckle. “You're welcome Pit.” She said, “Anytime.”
~Time skip to after dinner brought to you by floor ice cream~ After dinner, Pit went back to his room.
Oh boy... He thought with a stretch and a yawn,
I sure am tired! Plus I need to get some sleep so I can greet the newcomers tomorrow... He then remembered Dark Pit's note to him.
Hopefully this'll be as easy as our first battle. He thought,
But too bad I didn't have time to get my skills up before learning that Pittoo was coming. Plus he's gonna call me a puppet like he did back then... I'm sure of it! But at least Lady Palutena's here to help me when I need it! ~Flashback to the boss battle with Dark Pit~
“Bring it, Puppet!” Dark Pit said, firing some arrows from his Silver Bow.
“Hey, who are you calling a puppet?!” Pit questioned, using whatever weapon he had equipped to try and hit Dark Pit.
“When Palutena says jump, you jump. When she says fight, you fight.” Dark explained, “Sounds like a very satisfying existence. For her, that is.”
“I have absolute faith in Lady Palutena!” Pit argued.
“The Mirror of Truth doesn't lie.” Dark Pit said, “I'm a reflection of your true self. So maybe your faith in her isn't so absolute after all.”
While they were carrying on the conversation, they continued to fight each other with the weapons they had equipped.
“What do you know about faith anyway!?” Pit spat, “And that Mirror of Truth you mentioned? It's nothing but a pane of lies! Pandora was just using it as bait!”
“Hm. Seems like I touched a nerve.” Dark Pit said. ~End of flashback~
Pit sighed as he lay down in bed.
Maybe that won't happen again... He thought before closing his eyes,
But you never know with Pittoo. He could strike at any minute... Okay, I know that I cut out a piece of dialogue from this when Pit had the flashback of his first battle with Dark Pit/Pittoo. I was going to add it, but I thought, “Nah, maybe it wouldn't be appropriate for children to read.” So I decided to cut it out. Pit calls Dark Pit a name that's not...too bad, but it's pretty mean. At least Dark didn't care when Pit called him that... XD But the dialogue I cut out comes after the “What do you know about faith anyway?” part. He calls Dark Pit a “treacherous” something, but I'm not mentioning it here just in case (and just to be safe). Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the story so far!
