♛ The Dusty Arrival of the Mustang ♛

Nᴏᴛᴇs;;
▸ The mustang arrived @7:30am without much of a fight
▸ He spent the first few hours in his pen sniffing everything and galloping in circles
▸ Tripped about a hour into running, but no limp
▸ He's been watching me and I finally entered the pen
▸ He's been charging at me a few times now, but hasn't attacked me

▸ On day two, he was comfortable with my presence
▸ I was able to walk up to him and stand 2 feet away from his mud-caked body
▸ I brought out the cleaning tools, but made no attempt to clean him
▸ Mirza let me pet his face, and then turned away
▸ He's now comfortable with the grooming tools that are laying on the ground

♛ The First Bath for Mirza ♛

Nᴏᴛᴇs;;
▸ Brought out the hose in the morning while his body was slightly damp from dew
▸ Turned it on, and watered the plants outside his pasture to get used to noise
▸ Entered the round-pen 30 minutes later with hose in hand
▸ At 13:00 I reacquainted myself with Mirza
▸ I hosed Mirza for an hour, legs and rump only, he's now slightly more clean

▸ Woke up early again @8:00am and hosed off the rest of him
▸ Refilled water bucket and gave hay
▸ Mirza took a nap for a few hours, leaning up against a post
▸ Built a little shelter for him to sleep in when it rains or snows
▸ He checked out the little shelter and settled down there

♛ The Unknotting and Grooming ♛

Nᴏᴛᴇs;;
▸ New day, began grooming out fur and curry comb
▸ Mirza loved his coat being curried around shoulder and on rump
▸ Sensitive around one of his legs
▸ Got really pushy after 30 minutes, so I took a break
▸ At night I started the long journey of unknotting his mane and tail

▸ Finished early and went to bed around 1:00am
▸ Re-groomed his coat the next day
▸ Mirza is now shiny, and his coat is beginning to fill out
▸ Around noon time, I took out the trimming tools and presented it to him
▸ He acted cautious, but eventually became comfortable with it

♛ Trimming and Trust ♛

Nᴏᴛᴇs;;
▸ Woke up early on day 6 to trim him mane and tail
▸ Spent the next 4 hours working with him then went out for lunch
▸ Checked up on him and found him napping
▸ Fed him food out of my hand
▸ Vet came out and checked up on him, got a'ok to start training

▸ Brought out halter and let him sniff it and hanged it up on a fence
▸ Started a Parelli based training for horses bonding
▸ Mirza circled around me at a steady trot, no rope, just hand and voice
▸ Moved Mirza up to a canter and worked more on voice training
▸ Mirza accepted me and he became pushy and I had to put him back into his place
