Tia curled her tail around her hindquarters, hoping that whoever it was that had questioned her had gone. Turning her hazel eyes across to where she had last seen the dog in the alley, she met his gaze. He was watching her. Too tired to be afraid, she prayed silently that he meant her no harm. She lay her head down on her forepaws and gave a great sigh, trying to ignore the dull aching in her paws. The canine suddenly leapt to her feet at the yelp, hearing a near thunderous, metallic crash that followed. Tia skittered backwards, her claws clacking on the concrete. When nothing followed the crash, the Sloughi edged forwards, craning her long neck to find the source of the noise.
The sight of the garbage spilled over the ground at first seemed unremarkable to Tia, but when her sharp eyes picked out the smaller dog struggling from it, she gave a coughing chuckle. Remaining careful- after all, she didn't know the stranger- she inched back to her resting place. She didn't know if the strange dog had seen her or not, and in normal circumstances she would be the first to help him from the mess, but Tia didn't know this city, nor the dogs in it. It might cost her her life. Sitting down again, she watched the dog pick his way out. Her skin began to crawl again, and the feeling of being watched flowed through her. Snapping her head to the side, she found the canine from the alley. He seemed to be keeping a respectful distance, and his body language was not threatening. Blinking expectantly at him, she fumbled for words, not wanting to appear angry- or stupid.
