Sumiko listened intently throughout the announcement, fingers already poised over the headset. Not because she was eager, although she was, just a little bit; it was more of the fact that she was prepared. She had steeled herself for what happened, and she would deal with the consequences thusly. She wouldn't worry about it beforehand, however. Slipping the headset on once she was sure his speech had finished, she flexed her fingers and waited with baited breath.

"Link Start." She murmured, voice soft but clear.

A soft whoosh of light, and suddenly she was at a blue, pixelated screen, staring at it almost like it was right in front of her. "Please state your name and class." A disembodied voice suddenly said.

"Sumiko Inoue. Archer." She had read up on classes beforehand, although she had forgotten that a username was needed; a lack of forest on her part. Frowning at her slip-up, she sighed and went on with it, unable to think up any other name at the moment. Another woosh of light and sound; she was in.

'Welcome to Death Battle Online.'

- - - - -

Sumiko "woke up" in an inn, resting on a bed. Perhaps it was just a beginner's perk, getting to start in an inn, or it was just a completely randomized detail. Glancing around, she saw a neatly but sparsely furnished room, with a small bathroom off to one side. The first thing she did was go into the bathroom to check out her features, scrutinizing her face and clambering on top of the toilet to see her height. "Not much height difference; they made my hair too short, though. And my bust..." She colored slightly, deciding that was enough gawping at herself. Making her way back into the main room, she grabbed a roll and an apple that had been sitting on a small table. Close to the door was a simple wooden bow and a quiver of arrows, resting alongside a small coin pouch; all of which she grabbed. Trinity opened the door, the door across from her opening at the same time. She came face to face with a teenager -an actual player, if the purple floating above his head was any indication- that started then sneered at her, eyes raking her body with clear disgust and... Something else. Frowning at him, she merely brushed past him, nearly pausing when she felt him take a swipe at her. Ignoring it despite the anger swirling in her gut, she made her way downstairs into the general hubbub of the dining area.

Taking the apple from her inventory, Sumiko gazed around the area, reveling in how lifelike the NPCs looked. Her eyes landed on a single player, sitting alone in the dinn. She had a small scowl on her face, and Sumiko could 't help but want to reach out to her, partly for some companionship in this wildness and partly because she couldn't help but want to help people, no matter if they wanted it or needed it. That brought up a lot of problems whenever she saw a stray animal, always wanting to take them and nurse them back to health, but growing too detached to let them go.

Smoothly sidling into a seat across from Aurora, Sumiko gave the girl a kind smile, reaching a hand across the table for a handshake. "Hi there. I couldn't help but notice that you're a player basically alone in an inn full of NPCs(the guy from before she ignored completely). I'm sorry to bother you and all, if I am; but it's, ah, it's a pleasure to meet you, I guess." Sumiko inwardly winced; that was one of the most abrupt and lackluster hello's she'd ever given. And she wasn't even sure if this girl would even accept her handshake or not.

-Nanami walked down the street, her eyes scanning her surroundings for any other players in sight, a few purple dots above their heads indicating that they were players. Her attention turned to her reflection in a shop window. She stared at herself in disbelief, she thought she would look the same as in real life but she didn't. She had long pink hair down to her waist, and dull red eyes. Her outfit was a white string top, a loose fitting dress and boots. She flicked through her inventory quickly, looking over her shoulder to make sure no one was watching her as she did so, two swords, a small knife and a bow with a bag of arrows.
-'not a bad haul' she thought as she checked food and clothing. She would have to make do. She continued walking along, she watched the NPCs going in and out of an inn before stepping in herself. She eyed the inn, two other players were in there. She sat down as far away as she could from them, watching them intently. She didn't want to fight start away, but she would protect herself if it had to come to a fight. An NPC came to take her order, "just soup and bread." She said, picking the first thing that she saw on the menu.

↣ Aurora looked up slightly from her stew. Another player had already acknowledged her. "Huh, I'm impressed." She mumbles, her voice sounding a bit like astringent criticism. The player was very close, a bit too close for comfort. Her eyes scanned the competitor. Confident, kind, she looks smart. She's kinda pretty.. Aurora turned a slight hue of red, looking back down at her meal. "Pleasure to meet me, huh?" A thinly put sarcastic tone came from the blacksmith. Taking a spoon full of stew and shoving it into her mouth, she mumbles, "So, what? You wanna start some sort of Guild? Party? I know you're here for something."

↣ Her eye catches the entrance of the inn, another player was just entering. Aurora's suspicion grew. "You aren't planning to ambush me, are you?" A serious look of spite cuts back on her face as she glares at the purple markings above each head. From upstairs, a male-isn player looked as if he just came down. Darting her eyes around, a foolish grunt emerges from her as she picks up her body, putting her two feet on the floor. Her hands slam onto the table, bumping the soup and spilling some of it. An evil glare looked down upon the player. And, for a few terrifying seconds, she stares at the girl.

↣ "Huh. I didn't think I'd die so quickly." Her voice was calm, almost humorous. She shrugs, sitting back down, closing her eyes and carelessly taking a bite of meat. In the meantime, she takes her two feet and props them on the table, trying to look brutal but also pleasurable, like a child. An eye pops open to take another glance at the opponent. Fiery. Aurora blushes a bit before eating another piece of meat, picking it from the stew and dropping it into her mouth.

Niro Ospar
Solo; Crush: Open!; Location: Forest; Tags: None

'Spent your life savings so a hundred could die fighting over a reward? That's ridiculous.' was the first thought Niro had during the speech over the speakers. 'Oh i'm gonna live to see you come drop by for a visit. I want to see how that ends.' he thought to himself as he unknowingly tightened his grip on the arms of his wheelchair. Just got to put the gear on and the massacre begins... this room could very well be where it all ends. Wheeling over to the bedside, Niro took his time getting onto the bed, where he grabbed the headgear hesitantly, putting it on. He felt butterflies in his stomach, but knew he couldn't and wouldn't go back.

'Hey, don't you worry. When i get back, we'll have enough money to support us. And you'll be fourteen, a teenager! Can you imagine? We'll be able to breath again. Know that i love you and grandfather very much, alright? And help him out when i'm not around. Goodbye!' those were the last words he'd spoken to his younger brother before preparing for DBO. His grandpa knew what he was doing, but he was a cheery old man, and had faith in his grandson. Niro took a deep breath. This was it. He looked around the dull room and then at his wheelchair before closing his eyes. "Link Start!" he called out, and was lost in a flurry of colors.

His gaze shifted in and out of focus before finally he found that he was spawned in a forest, sitting down. A thought occurred to him. In DBO, he could stand.. walk.. run like everyone else. He shakily got to his feet, a very rare grin spreading wide on his face. This was a fantastic feeling. He felt so free, free as the wind or rushing water... wait he could actually hear rushing water. "Hrm..." he mumbled,
listening intently.

Now, and for the rest of this game, he was Yuu. He checked his inventory, finding some money and a bow and arrows. Well, he was an archer, after all. Closing the screen he looked around before deciding to head towards the water, one carefully placed step at a time, each one a blessing to him. Yuu came upon a small clearing with a running river. He tried to look at his reflection, but could only tell that he had black hair and a pale complexion, just like in reality. The young man assumed that he no changes had been made to his appearance, and instead looked ahead, where he could sight the outskirts of a town. 'Best i head over there so i can strategize, or make a team... or maybe not.' thought Niro as he began to make his way through the forest, smile replaced by an expression of seriousness. He refused to take this lightly.

Sumiko merely raised an eyebrow, retracting her hand when she realized that Aurora would not take it. Taking a bite of her apple, she chewed for a minute before grinning impishly at Aurora, a relaxed and teasing light in her eyes. "Perhaps I'm just an impressive person." She chuckled slightly at her own joke, before frowning in slight contemplation, tapping at her chin. "Well, it didn't really occur to me to form a guild or a party; I merely just wanted to see..." She paused. Really, what was she here for? She didn't really have a motive, besides just general... Compassion. "To see if you're... Alright." That didn't sound quite like the right word for it, but it was as close as she could get.

Sumiko merely raised a eyebrow again, calmly taking another bite of her apple. "A pity, the spilled food. Stew, is it?" She said cooly, a smile flitting across her lips. "I assure you, I am in no mood to fight this early on, although I cannot say the same for others." She eyeballed the teenager from before, expression twisting in distaste. Gaze narrowing slightly when Aurora propped her legs up on the table and used her fingers to eat her stew -Sumiko was a woman of etiquette, after all- she suddenly noticed her blush, ignoring her earlier comment about dying. "Are you getting sick? Is it possible to get sick in this game? What are you blushing at?" A touch of concern clouded her voice, and her fingers twitched, almost as if she wanted to take Aurora's temperature.

↣ The blacksmith easily rolled her eyes at the 'see if you're alright' expression. She took the last slab of meat from her bowl and plucked it into her mouth. Her body twitches at the concern from the player, and Aurora sticks her hands out in defense, like she had never been touched before. "I'm not sick." She mumbles sourly, biting the inside of her cheeks like a child and narrowing her eyes. Her face expression, though silly, still had a serious touch. She's treating me like a child. A bitter thought took place in her head. Why does she even care? Its not like she knows me.

↣ Aurora took her feet down and leaned into the table, staring blankly at the empty bowl. "Can you pay? I'm a bit low on cash." Her question was sincere, but a bit demanding as she search through her menu with a dazed look. "Geez, they don't start you out that well. I guess you really have to rely on the game." As the teen spoke, she sounded as if she was communicating more to herself, then whatever the players name is. Hey wait.. what is her name? Aurora took the spoon from the empty stew, pointing it a bit demeaning way at the other girl. "What's your name?"

"I'm obsessing all these questions,
Why I'm in denial that they tried the suicidal session"

Asher quietly made his way through the town. he wasn't walking very fast but he also wasn't walking as if he were admiring the town and building. He had some speed to his walk but he tried not to show it. He walked past the inns they had along with a few shops and just buildings to take up place.

He had passed a few shops but none that he was looking for, he finally reached a place that seems promising from the outside. It seems very spiritual and gave off a weird vibe that Ash couldn't quite figure out what. He opened the door and a lovely scent filled his nose, it was sweet and..smoky? His eyes went to his right when he saw a few incents burning.

A small smile slipped onto his face when someone spoke to him "hello, how may i help you?" he looked over at who had spoke to him and his eyes met dark green ones. She must be the owner. She was dresses in a long and beautiful dress that complimented her green eyes with the subtle green and blue on the shirt. "yes, I'm looking for potions, and a book of spells and magic" he told her and moved his blue eyes from her dress and back to her eyes.

He walked over to to counter she was standing by, looking at the items she had behind her. The Lady nodded softly spoke "you'll get most of your potions on floor twelve so i don't have much but i do have just a few" Ash nodded in reply 'floor twelve, i'll have to remember that' he thought and brought his eyes back to the shop owner as she pulled out a book and set it on the counter before him "and here is a simple book of spells, it doesn't have many spells and the spells it does have are low level ones. But I can see you are new so this should work." He pulled the book closer to him and examined it before nodding softly "okay, I'll take this then. Thank you" he told her.

She then pulled out a few smaller viles with odd colored liquid in it "these are the few potions i have. They won't be much help but you can use them to make a healing potion to restore you hp" she told Ash "okay, and I'll have to learn how to do that, which should be in the book right?" he asked and got a nod from the lady. He then smiled and said "I'll take it all then"

--

Asher left the shop pretty content with himself. Sure the potions he got wouldn't really help but it will soon and when he gets to floor ten he will have to stock up on potions but he would need some more money. Buying all that stuff in there took a toll on his cash but he should have enough to sell and upgrade his sword. He would just need to find a blacksmith. But it might be best to upgrade his skills a little bit and practice his spells while getting some more money as well. After all he wouldn't be using his sword that much in the long run.

Asher was walking down the walkway of the city with the book in his hand. he had decided to study water based spells right now and was reading through them all. We wanted to start out on something simple for now so his eyes were stuck on the spell Aqua Bind, which can restrict the movements one or multiple opponents. He was reading over, occasionally looking up to make sure no other player was around and also to keep an eye out for any inn. His eyes soon sought one out and he made his way over to it.

Entering he spotted a few players in here as well, a green pointer above their head to let him know they were players. He folded the corner of the page down in the book and closed it, moving it under his arm. He soon realized he had no idea what he even looked like. If it was who he was in real life or someone totally different. All he could see was the weak armor he was wearing.

he shyly made his way to and empty table and sat down, lightly setting the book down on the table before him.

Hiro I I Warrior I I Tagged: Aurora and Sumiko

Hiro while walking through the town took the time to observe his surroundings. He took mental notes of where everything was and what was there. Knowledge on the place they were in could help if you found yourself running from something. Brute force is nice to have but at this low level state Hiro realizes that maybe he should know a little bit more than just fighting. If you could out smart your opponent then you are garenteed to win. While looking at his surrounding he also took note of what he was wearing. 'hmmm well I guess you can't start out with the best armor or equipment. It would be nice though.' he thought to himself as he looked at his run down looking armor that was strapped to his chest. It was just a metal chest plate that had some dents in it. It was held together with some worn down straps. His other armor looked about the same. Except for the fact that the chest plate and a plate on his back was all he had. Girl wished he had maybe some armor on his legs, arms (including shoulders). He wanted to full body armor but he guessed he would have to work up to get all that. The next items he looked at were his weapons. His shield was tied to his back. He grabbed it and held it in his left arm. It was a decent size shield. It had a round top but the bottom was square like. All and all it could be better but it could've been worse. The metal was a low grade and it looked beat up too. His kept his shield in his hand when he pulled out his sword from its holder on his hip. It was a long sword, maybe four feet long. It was pretty thick at the base, but it thinned near the tip. The blade needed to be resharpened and the handle could use some work, but Hiro wasn't going to complain about it. You have to start somewhere and this equipment was definitely better then nothing.

After looking at his equipment he put it away and continued on his merry way. He started to spot some actual players. Some like him didn't want to start fighting just yet. You could tell because they didn't have their weapons out or giving other players the 'I'm going to kill you' look. Some did look like they were out to kill early on and they were starting to form groups with each other so that could kill in a pack. When Hiro looked at them all he saw was a group of wolves. Wolves that looked mean and scary but have no teeth to bite you with. Hiro have a small laugh at his mental image of a group of wolves with no teeth or nails. It made him laugh a little harder than it should have. He continued walking ignoring the wolves. He said "Hello" to some of the other players as he walked by. Some seed shocked that he was nice others returned the greeting. A smile was now on his lips and didn't seem to want to go away. Girl then walked into a little pub and saw some players in there already. He spotted two girls talking and Hiro instantly started to walk towards them. He grabbed an empty chair on his way over and pulled it up to the table the two girls were at. He sat down just in time for introductions because he heard one ask the other for her name. She gave them both a warm friendly smile. "Hello, I'm Hiro. Don't be alarmed I'm not here to fight. Just here to make some friends." he said to the girls with a big goofy grin. Hiro is the type of guy to lighten the mood by just being there. He had only met a few people who didn't openly like him. He loved meeting new people and making friends is one of his top priorities for him right now. He knew that fighting alone will be very hard if not impossible. He wanted to fight with a group and making friends is the best thing to do. Yes they were here to kill everyone but you can't kill everyone by yourself. You have to have help. Well at least that's what Hiro believes.

Niro Ospar
Solo; Crush: Open!; Location: Forest-Town-Inn; Tags: Nanami

Niro was still getting the hang of walking as he stepped slowly through the forest. Four years it had been since he last had the opportunity to do something like this. Old comforting memories flooded back to him as he walked on, now out of the forest and just a small ways from the town he had sighted earlier. 'Good, now I can situate myself and brainstorm.' he thought to himself as he entered the outskirts. The black haired male subconsciously tugged at his little black bandana hanging around his neck but immediately stopped once he saw his reflection in a window. His hands shot up to his face, pulling at his hair and blinking. Red eyes! Why on Earth would the game have given him red eyes? Was grey just not an option?

"Hmph." he concluded. He didn't have the time to worry about his appearance, although the fact that he was a good 2-3 inches shorter than in reality bothered him. Turning away from the window, he finally allowed himself to take in the town itself. A simple town, but it wasn't as if he was on a high floor. Shrugging to himself he moved on, his pace set a bit quicker. He passed a shop, but stopped as it seemed to have caught his eye. The store appeared to be a smithy, although of course not wielding top grade weapons. If you were to stand right in front of the door and look the other side of the street, you would spot an Inn, which is what Niro did. He could see little glowing purple dots from through the glass pane, indicating that a few players were inside. Perhaps a good place to go and-

"Hey watch it, shorty! Get in or get out, quick slacking!" came a gruff voice from behind him as he was roughly pushed out of the doorway by some guy, a real player. Niro was still unsteady on his legs so at the force of such a quick movement he buckled easily, now on his knees. Another guy who appeared to be going with the first man let out a cold laugh when the 19-year-old fell in front of him. The two walked off, but Yuu didn't say a word. "......" was all he managed before bringing himself back to his feet and deciding to go inside the Inn where he could hopefully find better company.

Now inside, Niro could smell food being made, and saw that some players were already conversing with each other. He thought a party of three or four was a bit much for him, and so he avoided the three talking at one table, instead walked further into the slightly stuffy room, his mouth straight, giving him a more unemotional demeanor. A flash of pink caught his eye and he turned around, spotting a girl sitting alone and walked over to her."Umm, hey." he said hesitantly as he slowly sat down across from Nanami. "Do you... mind if a sit here?"

nanami

location: the inn relationship: Single/no crush
tags: Open

-Nanami looked around the inn with interest, it looked so lifelike, the game designers really went to ever effort to make players comfortable. she thought as her eyes focused back onto the two players at the table. She didn't like the fact that they were talking and chatting, making plans for strategic purposes. She shifted in her chair, uncomfortable beinging the only player alone in the inn. She continued to watch as another player approached them. Her gaze cut off when the NCP arrived with her soup. She smiled, moving to get it and thanked the woman. She broke the bread dipping it into her soup as she turned her attention to the window and those outside.
- Nanami notice a black haired boy, a player come into the inn. She sat straight as she watched him approach her. She shook her head as he sat down, " no it's fine, please sit" she mumbled, looking at her hands. She wasn't one to start a conversation in the real world, something that seemed to carry over into the virtual world. ah,um, I'm Nanami. Pleased to meet you" she said as she flicked her pink hair out of her eyes. She noticed that the player had unusual red eyes, although, thinking about it my eyes are also red, just a dull red.
