The scientists are after you. Your breathing is wild and ragged. You don't know how long you can keep up for. You break into the forest, the scientists have got out their cars and now they pursue you on foot. You stumble through the forest and you trip over a log and you're falling...falling and falling.
You jolt awake, sweaty and breathing heavily. That is one nightmare that plague all the others like you. You sit up and wipe your eyes, rub the weariness out of your limbs. The light breaks through the dark forest, illuminating the cabins around the small clearing. You hate to remember the night you disappeared, you remember how bad you felt when you left your parents and went Into The Night.

The story:

You are a shapeshifter that ran away from home when you were younger, when you found out your gift. You still feel guilty, some of you left a note but some didn't, the ones in immediate danger, you are all presumed dead. You live in a small clearing in a dark forest with the others like you. Scientists found a shifter 3 years ago and now they are hunting for more. You are on constant patrol. Life is hard, but you will pull through.

The Camp...


There are three rooms in each cabin: a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom. Each shifter has a cabin.

The Forest...


Nestled in this forest is the home of the shifters. They hunt for game here, such as deer, rabbits, etc.

The Lodge...


This is the main lodge, where the shifters gather to eat or have meetings.

The Lake...


The Shifters come here to swim often. The fish are only used for food as a last resort.

The City...


The Shifters usually don't visit the city, as it is unsafe. They only visit in event of an emergency.

The Lab...


This is the research area used by the scientists. Once you are captured, there is no return.

The Setting...

This roleplay is set in the year 2300. Civilisation hasn't gone too far forward with science. It has just stayed about the same. Nothing has really changed in the continental United States except the downfall of many cities. The Shifter base is in New York. Half of New York has rotted and a large forest has grown over it, continuing into Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is gone completely. Most people have gone further inland after the rumors of wild beasts living in the forest. The Scientists live in a small research base on the border on the forest, on the New York side. They do not know of the Shifters habitat yet.

{I'm making a discussion thread, which is where I'm going to ask everyone to put their character forms. I'm going to put that up tomorrow, possibly tonight. When I do, I'll ask everyone to put their forms in there :3}

The weather was hot.
Heat was something Yuri had never particularly liked; with the cold, sure, it stung, but he could always just throw on more layers to get warm. With heat...not so much. He already wore two layers on his torso every day-- the shirt and jacket held together by his brown and golden cloth belt-- so staying out in the heat all day was a basic avoidance for him. Sure, it wasn't reaching the high 100s or anything, but...it still sucked. Staying in the trees helped, though; at least, that's what he believed. A tree was where he was currently placed, anyway, in a vain attempt to escape the heat of the sun licking at his pale-toned skin. The leaves up in the high part of the tree he sat in helped to cover him a little, but not very much; his legs still felt utterly warm, as if being submerged in too-hot water. Ugh... Still, he refused to look and feel prissy; instead, the young man folded his arms behind his head and relaxed against the trunk, closing his eyes with one leg decidedly dangling from the branch he was sitting upon, swinging back and forth idly. Hopefully, he wouldn't have to go hunting anytime soon...

Off on the other end of the camp, sitting inside the lodge, was the black-haired young medic, his amber eyes focused upon the pages in a large book he had laid flat on one of the meeting tables. "..." The book itself was something he'd taken before he had run away eight years ago, and the only thing that had survived other than a small photo of his parents--but he kept that hidden away. Most shifters in the camp never mentioned their parents, or had feelings of malice or bitterness towards them. It'd...make things awkward, so he just kept it buried in the drawer of his personal cabin. Although he'd read the text nearly a hundred times over, he still enjoyed skirting over the story for a sense of nostalgia; it had been one of the first longer books Jude had ever read growing up, He could still remember how proud his mother looked when she'd seen him reading it...
That thought made his heart swell and ache all at once, causing him to sit up and shut the book before turning to walk toward the door. Well, he supposed it was time to go back to his own cabin, anyway; it was hitting the middle of the day, and he was sure everyone else was getting around to their own separate things.

Their experiments were dwindling. It honestly helped little at all that they only had one shifter to show for in the lab; this number of experiments would kill the girl--whatever her name was, he honestly couldn't care-- and he didn't want that...yet. They'd already taken various blood samples throughout the day to test the differences between both human and animal blood, how it reacted to different viruses and diseases, and especially--how much she could have taken from her before she whited out. Of course, Julius was forced to call off the blood-taking experiment for a little bit; they'd already taken out a few pints with no results, so it was likely best to just leave the girl to produce more while she sat in her cage-like room for a few hours. It was frustrating, really; if his useless scouts could find some sort of clue leading to shifter habitat already, they'd have many more to work with--and they'd be making progress, not sitting twiddling their thumbs. An agitated sigh left the usually stoic brown-haired man, adjusting his glasses before rising. Well, it was time to prepare for another few hours of waiting...

Kasumi scrolled through the lush, dense forest. It was silent and gave off an eerie feeling. She sighed knowing that the worse was over ever since her parents found out about the monster she was. She had her baseball cap turned around facing the opposite direction and had a backpack full of stuff, She wore skinny denim jeans with a wine coloured t-shirt and finally she had also wine coloured converse. Next to her hips was a belt on each side where two sharp blades and two silver hand guns, in a criss-cross shape strapped to her back where samurai like swords. Kasumi's face lit up when she finally seen the place she was looking for, her new 'home' she arrived in the camp after days of travelling " So this is it. " She grinned , looking around for anyone.

Jenna was inside her cabin, enjoying the cool air. The heat outside was nearly unbearable, so she far preferred the indoors. She peered out the window and saw several other Shifters mulling around slowly, tired from the heat. Deciding that she could beat the heat, she threw on a suit, and went to swim in the lake, hoping the water would be cool.
