He nodded as the guy said something about a giant squid as, ironically, the monster itself appeared and grabbed a hold of the drift wood they were on. "I can't swim!" Ren groaned quietly to himself as he struggled with the pen, trying to figure out how it was going to save him. Technically the other guy could just push him back to shore, but now that was kinda difficult with a squid attacking them. A tentical whipped down between them and curled around him, pulling him up into the air. eyes widening in panic, he tossed the pen to Yuri. "Its supposed to be a weapon I think!" He called out, his voice turning into a whimper. The whole beginning of this summer was like a scene from a bad anime.

"Can't swi-?" Who couldn't swim? Yuri's eyebrows raised, but he said nothing, shaking his head and replying. "Don't worry, I'll just pull you back to shor-" Suddenly, a tentacle wound around Renzii, pulling him up into the air, much to Yuri's annoyance and rapidly growing unease. "Hey-!!" Crap, what was he going to do? He couldn't fist-fight a squid!! A frown rapidly crossed his face and he pushed his wet dark purple-black hair back out of his eyes, quickly struggling to come up with a solution. Of course, the pen that was thrown at him didn't help his case at all; although he caught it, he was still struck dumb for a moment. What the hell was he supposed to do with a pen against a squid? "I don't think ink would be very good against something that produces it on its own," he remarked dryly, but his sarcasm was short-lived; this was an urgent manner, of course. Were they making some cheesy show out of this or something? Because this was ridiculous. "..er.." Yuri uneasily studied the pen despite his alarm; how on earth was this a weapon? Oh well, I'll figure that out soon enough. For now, I just need some leverage--

Thinking fast, he clambered up onto the large piece of driftwood Renzii had been on before he was plucked up, rising to his feet and glaring up at the squid. Why put people in danger for the sake of some match-making service?! He awkwardly studied the pen before deciding to make a seemingly stupid decision and clicking the end of it, his single-handed grip quickly failing him as the pen-no, sword-suddenly got a lot heavier, clattering onto the wood with a dull noise. Yuri stared in shock before quickly picking up the pen-turned-blade, doing his best to take a firm stance. "Alright, er--let him down!!" I highly doubt this thing speaks English...

When he 'woke up', Cian knew his day wasn't going to be a good one. If the roaring outside was not enough to tell him this, the note on his bedside certainly was. First of all, why had the Matchmaker seen fit to put sleeping in his drink? Heck, how'd she even manage to get them to work on someone who detached his head every night? Had she slipped gold into it as well? For that matter, could the Matchmaker even be called a she? Anyways, the note's contents bothered Cian even more by what they said. His potential match? Pfft, no potential match of his should ever be a damsel in distress. That was, perhaps, the most cliche thing ever. Nonetheless, the dullahan would feel bad if he just let his possible acquaintance die when he could help. So, grabbing his whip(made from 100% undamaged spine, circa. 1777. It used to belong to a Redcoat, but it didn't anymore), Cian made his way to the area his senses told him to go. There he began the hefty job of smashing small sections of the rubble to pieces with said whip. Time was of the essence, apparently, but taking too large a section at a time would prove too dangerous a risk. The last thing Cian needed was to be buried under rubble for however long it took someone to get to him.

Alister glared at the note wishing he had gotten the warning a bit earlier. Only a few moments ago, he was enjoying the fascinating tale of Huckleberry Finn and now he was laying face first on the rocky ground with bruised forehead. He was outside when the earth began to quake and a dragon attacked the mansion. Thank God there were no trees or flammable things near him and that he just found himself hitting his head against a rock. But, hey, it's better then getting trapped inside or being set on fire. Alister looked around for any signs of life and picked himself up off the ground. He turned his attention to the ocean and saw two boys struggling with what seemed to be giant tentacles? He inched toward the chaos, but decided to instead hide behind a rock and help if things got out of hand.

Welcome to the Clarenceville Matchmaking Mansion! Of course, matchmaking isn't an easy task, and what fun would a lazy summer be? As a Mystic, you did arrive here quite late last night, and I may have decided to start the summer off with a bang this morning. (Hey, I gotta show the mortals what they're in for sometime). Anyways... Theres a dragon loose on the island (as you may have noticed), You may be pinned under the rubble and the impact itself must've knocked you out for some time. Of course I can't actually let anyone get critically injured due to lawsuit reasons, so attached to this note is a vial of a healing potion. DON'T drink all of it at once as you don't know how long it will take your match to help you out. However as a mystic, maybe if you got to full strength, you could save yourself, but thats up to you.

More wreckage came falling down at an even faster rate, it seemed as if someone was destroying it even further. "If I die by being buried by books..." She scowled quietly to herself as her eyes landed on a simple repairing spell, wondering if it would work Vane started to memorize the words. After a few more moments of destruction, Vanendra finally cast the spell and the library slowly started to repair itself. Wood and drywall started to float upward to their designated places. "Possible death for matchmaking? Yeah, okay." She muttered half-heartedly to herself, not too pleased with her wake-up call this morning.

Assuming the squid wouldn't understand whatever the other guy was shouting at it, Renzii decided to take the situation into his own hands... Er... Mouth. He bit into the soft slippery grossness that was the animal's limb. As a result, the grip around him only tightened. "This is..." He growled to himself, still not believing the ridiculous situation he was in. And in only his boxers too? He was only human, what the heck was this matchmaker thinking?

"Don't bite it!! You'll just piss it off more!" Yuri called up at him, grip tightening a bit. He'd trained a bit in kendo as more of a fighting dummy with a couple of kids, but...that was ages ago, back before he'd moved on from the small street corner that had raised him. Essentially, he had hardly any knowledge left of how to use something like this; it was heavy, and dual-sided, so regardless of how bad he'd be at using a sword, it'd still cause some sort of injury, right? Hopefully not to me, but... In this state of distress, he didn't notice the young mystic off back on shore that was watching them; instead, his gray eyes were fixed on the squid, brow furrowed deeply with a threatening expression. Well, it was now or never. Yuri moved his feet a bit to test himself on the large piece of debris to judge his balance and footing; there were enough grooves to keep him from sliding off and hurting himself in the process of attacking once he did, thankfully. He'd be alright trying this out. Though...was it really okay to just carelessly swing around a sword in hopes that it'd somehow slice something or injure it enough to let the other man go?

Yuri took one step forward before bracing himself on the surface he stood on, gritting his teeth and running a few more steps, pulling back the weapon before swinging it forward, the blade making a harsh whoosh in a near-deadly manner as it sliced through the air, the intended target being the part of the squid's tentacle that was a bit of a distance below Renzii. "Gh-!!" A curse fell from him as pain wracked his shoulder, reminding him that he shouldn't have jumped out of his window so rashly; still, he forced himself to not let it interrupt the contact of his sword and the squid, moving through the pain and letting it move in a deadly arc toward the large monster. Let's see if this stupid thing actually works-!!
