History

Talia was an only child, and when she was 11, her mother passed away, leaving her with her father. He was depressed after his wife died, and then left Talia alone. She spent the next three years with an aunt who was abusive and didn't really care for Talia, which lead to Talia attempting to run away, which only made her aunt more angry, and she would shout and ground her unreasonably. She finally transformed when she was 14, after running away when her aunt had shouted at her for being a waste of space and had harmed Talia.

Personality

Talia has experienced a great deal of loss in her life, and that makes her more quiet. It doesn't mean that she isn't strong or determined though. If someone is to wrong Talia, they better watch out because Talia will get her revenge. She used to be more passive, but now she can get much more aggressive at times. After she finally got away from her aunt, she reconnected with the mermaids in her tribe, which made her feel like she finally belonged somewhere and had a family. She is fairly young, especially compared to some of the other mermaids, so she's a bit reckless and naive, and she loves to explore, even if it gets her into trouble.

The books are AMAZING. though it did annoy me greatly that the whole focus was mermaids falling in love with stupid land boys. Like...you are immortal and beautiful and powerful and perfect and youRE GONNA MESS AROUND WITH LAND BOYS??

There's three, and they're all amazing. I might work a few aspects of the books' plot into this RP if we get that far.

but it would not be the first time I disapproved of romance in a book, haha

H I S T O R Y:: Nina was born in Boston on a cold night in 1715. She was born to a poor woman who was rarely home, her father was a wealthy man who had fallen in love with her cruel mother. Her mother growing up poor was always hungry for power and wealth so when she met Nina's father she made sure to dig her claws into him and never let go, but when Nina was born she feared that Nina would replace her as the center of attention and she couldn't have that. Keeping Nina in her old house she often left her alone to fend for herself while she enjoyed her new husbands wealth. When Nina turned five she learned to steal and was good at it. One day while in the commons she had managed to get her hand caught in a man's pocket, the man just so happened to be her father, who was on a walk with her mother. Beating her down for trying to steal he didn't stop till the authorities came and arrested her. The last time Nina saw her mother was when she was seeing if her husbands knuckles were okay, not even bothering to bat an eye at her daughter. Being young Nina didn't go to prison instead she was sent away to an orphanage on the Maine's coats at the age of six. Shortly after she arrived the orphanage was shut down so like all the orphans she had no choice but to survive on her own. The first winter was harsh but with a friend she met at the at the orphanage named Bennet, she survived although her toes had severe frost bite and were no longer able to move. Together during the summer they traveled together until one day she woke up and Bennet was gone. Disappeared into mid air. When the next winter rolled around she was on the verge of freezing to death in a forest when she transformed.
P E R S O N A L I T Y:: Nina comes of as a timid, watchful and shy girl. She is all of those and much more, with a temper that can shake the seas she's not someone you want to mess with. She has seen many mermaids come and go, almost like seasons so she doesn't get close to others often in fear that one day they won't be there like Bennet. Although she doesn't talk much she enjoys to, you just have to get her to open up. She has allot of amazing stories to tell along with wisdom to share. Although she is very old she is still childish and will roll her eyes or stick out her tongue at you. She doesn't dare talk about the pain in her life because it still feels like an open wound. What Nina hates most is when others see her differently because her age so she keeps it a secret, only the Queen and her know her actual age. She also lies about the reason she became a mermaid often telling others that she was contently an orphan traveling the world.
