He nodded and watched as Stormpaw caught the minnow. "Okay." Greypaw meowed and got to his paws. He padded closer to the river and sat down. The apprentice looked down at the water. He made sure his shadow didn't touch, just like Stormpaw had instructed. Greypaw spotted one and unsheated his claws. He waited for the perfect moment and then pulled it out of the water. Greypaw then bent his head and killed it before it could escape.

He looked toward Swiftstar's den and nodded. "Yeah. She must be in there." he agreed and ran inside the den. "Swiftstar?" he called. Swiftstar sat up and saw the worried look on Hawkfeather's face. "What's the matter dear?" Swiftstar asked in concern.

"did you hear about that poor beetlekit? teasing is a terrible thing for new apprentices. they finally feel big, just to be crumbled again. i remember i was teased for my long fur. -at least i survived the leaf-bare. he... -well, starclan probably had plans for him up there... uhh, -what about you? any interesting stories from when you were a newly-announced apprentice?" she mewed to him, sighing at the departure of her "friend" from late kit-hood.

The fox curled up in her den. She scented the air, which had a hint of cats. Her fur stood up and she watched the entrance to her den worriedly.

aspenwhisker sighed and curled his tail tightly around his paws, gritting his teeth together. "i-i lost my family. i hope to meet them when i go to starclan." the tom murmured, remembering the death of his parents and siblings. "but hey, they are happy and safe in starclan. nothing can hurt them, and one day, we'll be back in the paws of our loved ones. maybe even kits."
