The black and white medicine cat flattened her ears against her head as she listened to the queen speak. ''Smokeblossom, I'll be here to help take care of your kits. You're going to be a great mother. They will definitely live long lives.'' She wrapped her tail around her paws. ''The clan wouldn't be protected without any warriors. Besides, things have been very peaceful lately. I recently talked to the other medicine cats. Things seemed strange, but they were alright. There was absolutely no hostility.''

Cloudpaw anxiously tried to think of something, but what if the older cat already knew? He struggled to pick a strategy, and simply ran ahead at first. The apprentice then dove to Shadowstripe's right just before he came within paw's reach, and rammed into the warrior's side.
