The People I Love Most Aren't People

Some want to show their family their friends.
Others want to show friends their family.
But the people I find myself thinking about all the time
Happen to be different than usual.
The people I love don't gossip about me.
The people I love don't stab me in the back.
The people I love don't keep me in a cage.
The people I love are kinder than anyone.
That's maybe because the people I love
aren't people.
The people I love see me at work.
The people I love don't walk on two legs.
The people I love aren't people.
They're horses.
To all the girls and boys who'd ever felt like they belong with a herd of horses instead of a herd of people. To all those who would rather be with animals than humans. And most of all, to all those who understand that it's okay to prefer the company of horses to the company of people.
I don't know, random poem I thought of when I was angry.

*laughs* thank you! Yeah, I actually understand that. As a nonfamous, nonpublished author, I totally get liking "not real" characters better than real people.
