Prologue

On his way to becoming a Pokémon Master, Ash Ketchum has journeyed to the Kalos Region. When he arrived in Lumiose City, he met and befriended the Gym Leader and his little sister, Clemont and Bonnie. At the time he did not know who they really were, but was not able to challenge the Lumiose Gym due to not having four Gym Badges. Clemont and Ash had a thrilling battle, but it was interrupted by Team Rocket, who as usual, attempted to capture Pikachu. They were saved by a wild Froakie, which Ash later captured. When they arrived in Santalune City for Ash's first Kalos Gym Battle, they met Serena, a new Pokémon Trainer who had just started her journey and had been wanting to see Ash for quite some time. After Ash's victory at his Santalune Gym rematch, he set out for Cyllage City. However, on the way there, Team Rocket came and tried to capture Pikachu again. At first the trio seemed to have the upper hand, until a mysterious boy by the name of Caelan showed up with his Scizor and Froslass and helped free Pikachu. Caelan showed great anger towards the Team Rocket trio, going so far as to physically attack them. After his Pokémon sent them blasting off, his anger subsided. He introduced himself to Ash and his friends as a young trainer researching Mega Evolution. He also said that he had a history with Team Rocket, and it makes him sick to his stomach. What could Caelan's relationship to Team Rocket be? And just who is he?

Chapter 1: The Prince's Wrath

As our heroes make their way towards Cyllage City and Ash's next Kalos Gym battle, they run into a predicament. It seems they have gotten lost in a thick forest. While they are looking for a way out, Ash uses this as an oppurtunity to find another Pokémon. As he is looking around, he sees a Mawile. He checks the Pokédex and it says, "Mawile, the Deceiver Pokémon. Mawile's horns form a huge set of jaws strong enough to chew up an iron beam." Ash's excitement of catching a strong Pokemon got him in a good mood. He sent Froakie to battle the Mawile. At first Froakie was raring and ready to battle, but after looking at the Mawile, his expression changed. Ash looked closely and saw the Mawile was injured by a Fire type. As Ash called his friends over to help, a Poké Ball flew out of the bushes and sucked the Mawile inside. After shaking a few times, it clicked shut and Ash groaned, disappointed saying, "Aw man, I wanted to catch that Mawile." Clemont reassured him by saying, "Ash, think about it, if that Mawile was injured in a battle, then that means somebody else already planned on capturing it before you did." Suddenly, a boy stepped out of the bushes and picked up the Poké Ball. Ash looked at him and said, "Hey, it's you!" The boy was actually the trainer they met a few days ago, Caelan. He walked over to them and said, "Hello again, I see you're doing well. I suppose you must have seen this Mawile before I captured it. I feel bad for getting your hopes up then disappointing you. Here, take it." Caelan said handing Ash the Poké Ball. Ash thanked Caelan, and Caelan told him, "I believe you can form an everlasting bond with that Mawile. Hmm... well, that settles it." Ash asked him, "Settles what?" Caelan told Ash that Mawile is a Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution, and that Ash's love of Pokémon would allow him to achieve Mawile's Mega Evolution. He asked to see Ash's hat for a second and inserted a Key Stone into it. He then gave him a piece of Mawilite. He said "While Mawile is capable of Mega Evolution, it will not perform it until you form a strong bond with it." Suddenly, a Psybeam attack came out of the bushes, but Caelan sent out his Froslass in the nick of time and blocked it with Protect. As the dust cleared, Team Rocket stood there. As they started their motto, Caelan commanded Froslass to use Frost Breath. As they fell to the ground and got back up enraged, Jessie said, "How dare you, you ungrateful brat! We give you our signature motto and you blow us off!? As if the fact that you ruined my perfect complexion when you attacked us the last time wasn't bad enough! Now you're just rude!" Caelan growled and walked up to her, making her shiver in fear. He said quite calmly to her, "Listen very closely, Team Rocket is nothing but a pile of trash that has no reason for existence. The only reason that Team Rocket exists is for me to hunt down each and every member of you pathetic cockroaches, and squish them like the vermin they are! UNDERSTAND!?" The trio jumped back in fear as he yelled and James said, "Wh-What's this twerp's problem? And I thought we were evil..." Caelan walked away and said, "Froslass, Hyper Beam." Froslass cupped her hands together and a ball of dark purple energy formed. When she pushed her hands forward, a beam shot out, sending Team Rocket off. As Caelan recalled Froslass, he regained his pleasant demeanor and said to Ash and his friends, "I believe it's time I take my leave." before walking off
