The black and white she-cat shuffled her paws nervously as she listened to Smokeblossom speak. ''I'll have a fresh moss nest that is lined with feathers waiting for you. Don't worry, the nursery will be comfortable.'' Chickadeeflight kept her eyes focused on the ground. I wonder if I could confide in Smokeblossom. ''Well, I might have once or twice, but there isn't a medicine cat who hasn't questioned their choice.'' She looked at the she-cat curiously and wondered if Smokeblossom had seen her talking to Aspenthorn more lately. ''Besides, who would be my mate anyways? My clan is more important. Leafpaw isn't ready to take on all of the responsibilities of being a medicine cat.'' Her black and white tail swept back and forth.

Aspenthorn poked his head out of the foliage looking down at his leader. "It's just up ahead. I can see her waiting for us, she seems committed. A little nervous."

Smokeblossom shrugged purring. "If I can find a mate a she cat as sweet and pretty as you would have to beat them away form your den if you where a warrior. Most of the toms know they don't stand a rabbits chance against a fox with you. You love your job." She purred shaking her head. "But if a fool ever comes to you, i just." She smiled looking at her belly thinking of her mate. "It's scary... being in love. But it's worth it."

The black and white she-cat nodded as she listened to the queen speak to her. What Smokeblossom is saying does make sense. I love being a medicine cat. I really care about Aspenthorn too though. I don't know which I'd choose if I had to pick one. ''I do love being a medicine cat. It's fun to be able to help the other cats when they need you the most.'' She lifted one of her paws to her muzzle and cleaned it. ''I'm sure that it is scary. I used to have a crush on a tom when I was an apprentice,'' the she-cat coughed after she spoke. ''I still care about him, but it's against the code. And what would the clan do with me anyways? I could be exiled and I'm not going to make a very good warrior,'' Chickadeeflight lowered her voice as she spoke. She didn't want any cats to hear their conversation. It was risky talling Smokeblossom any of this as it was. She wasn't admitting to doing anything against the rules, so she couldn't really get into trouble anyways.

The black and white tom looked at the other tom. ''I'm not sure. You sort of look like that tom named Oakclaw.'' His black and white tail flicked back and forth. Hawktalon seemed like he was trying to be friendly to Bandit. It was nice to have one welcoming cat in the clan.

Chickadeeflight padded away from Bramblethorn and went to the warriors' den. ''Hey, Smokeblossom. Are you in here?'' After waiting a few seconds the black and white she-cat entered the den.

Emberkit trotted through camp looking around for Cherrykit to play with but didn't see her so he padded over to the apprentices den peeking in to see what it would be like

Smokeblossom pursed her lips looking at the medicine cat. "I don't know. Honestly. There have been cats who give their kits to a foster queen, never tell them they are their real mother. But Starclan will always punish them, and it always ends in tragedy. The question is. Is it worth it?" She kept her voice low looking around the empty den. "No one can make this decision for you, you need to follow your heart. You'll know what to do."

The black and white she-cat folded her ears against her head as she listened to the queen speak. It would be terrible to abandon kits with another cat. They'd never even know who I was. I couldn't do that, could I? ''I don't understand why Starclan even has those rules,'' she said begrudgingly. Her fluffy black and white tail curled around her paws. ''I don't know what I want. It would seem like it was worth it, but I wish that I knew what the future will be. Then I could make my choice and make sure that nothing bad happens. Starclan is so confusing,'' she kept her voice low.

Smokeblossom sighed shaking her head. "I'm afraid that's not an option. Something bad will always happen. I'm a small cat to begin, and it's leaf bare. Even if my kits make it past leafbare they will go on to be warriors. I will have to watch them risk their lives, go into battle, be hurt. It's a hazard of becoming a queen. Something bad always happens. But so much greatness comes from it too." The pointed queen picked at the moss in her nest sighing. "Starclan has it's reasons. But I will agree, they do seem stupid for us. You'll figure out what you want. Follow your heart, that's all you can do."

Besides, things have been very peaceful lately. I recently talked to the other medicine cats. Things seemed strange, but they were alright. There was absolutely no hostility.''
