Ælfwin prefers to move delicately and pick her way elegantly forward rather than break into a fast lope or run anyway, but the shawl, precariously positioned as it is, ensures her movement is almost always deliberate and carefully considered. Ælfwin wears it over her gem, according to her, because a proper lady should never be seen without such a kind of proper ornamentation, or because she gets cold easily; truthfully, she has always longed to fit in with non-error big cats, no matter how futile it might seem, and wears it to hide the gem that marks her as unmistakably different. Of course, she can't hide her robotic paw - but then, she probably wouldn't ever get up the courage to talk to any non-errors anyway, with her crippling fear of rejection. Someday, maybe. Until then, even she half-recognises it as a distant dream.
