"Mother? Please tell me. Why do hide in these caves every day? Live our lives out here in the back woods of the world?" Asked the young child, her eyes following her mother that scurried around their 'house'.
"Dear child, I have told you that I would tell you when you are ready. And Im just not too sure if that time has come." She said quietly, casting a glance to her daughter before going back to work.
"Oh Mother, please. After all the things we've been through, you would think that we are ready to take on anything."
That made the human stop for a moment, as though frozen in time, she didn't move for a good few minutes before straightening and facing her daughter. "Very well, my dear. Get ready for a story. A long story at that."
Excitedly, the child said not a word before sitting straight up, her back against the cave wall, her eyes glued to her mother.
The mother chuckled quietly before sitting herself down across the cave from her child, staying silent for a few moments to gather her thoughts before continuing. "Well dear child...we shall start from the beginning." And so she did.
"You see, years ago. And I mean, before my great grand parents were born, there was a horrible illness that began to sweep throughout the world, quickly becoming a pandemic. You see, this was no virus that any scientist had ever seen, heard of, or even studied. Everyone was frantic, trying to come up with a cure for it as it took only a week after the first symptom being spotted until you were dead...Well, they began intensive studies on this airborne virus, hoping by the time it came to their country they'd have found the cure and vaccine and been able to give it to everyone around. It took five years for it to arrive here, and it took them four years to find a vaccine that would have a chance at working. Though, they needed some to test the vaccine, who would be willing to go out in the sick populations and see if it worked." She stopped to gather her thoughts and breath before continuing. "Well, it did. Though, by the time they figured it out, it was too late. Almost everyone here had died from the disease which they called 'The Flare'. It would effect the brain, making one go crazy. So it was a danger to be out in the populations, where the "Gone" would live...anyway, they had only managed to give out twenty vaccines to people. Those twenty, and a few stragglers who did eventually die, were the only ones to survive the Flare. Though, the virus is still out there...still killing away. Well, because they survived the incurable virus, they though the vaccine was amazing. A hundred percent perfect. Though, as they say, nothing is perfect. The vaccine had one side affect...a very, very large one at that. It took years to figure this out, but those who were vaccinated were...Well, I will get there in a second." She stopped, the smallest of smiles on her face. She then cast a glance towards her daughter, who had wide eyes, staring at her mother for more of the story, so she continued.
"Well, we have also found that the decedents of the original group that was vaccinated contain the vaccine in their blood. And another gene...One that made scientists do a double take. Any guesses?" she asked her child, raising her eyebrows with slight curiosity.
The girl shook her head slowly, her eyebrow furrowed, her forehead creased.
The mother smiled, then drew a deep breath and said,"It was a shape shifting gene. Each person can shift into one animal at will, only one animal. Those who have the gene don't choose the animal; the animal chooses them. And the reason for this, they have found, is that that animal is their spirit resemblance. It represents the ways they act and react to certain situations. The way those live and eat and so on, matches that animal." She stopped to look at her daughter again, waiting for her to pipe up, which she did.
"So, mother, if this is going the way I think it is.. if you are one which Im guessing you are..." she said slowly, becoming confused at her own words before continuing, "And if we are immune to this virus thing, why can't we live like normal people?"
Her mother sighed, and rubbed her temples, closing her eyes and resting her head on the wall before speaking, still facing the young one. "Yes, dearest. I am a shifter. You are a shifter. I am the grizzly bear. The largest bear there is, and one that is very protective over her cubs." she said with a soft chuckle, a small smile appearing on her face. Though the second question replaced her smile with a frown, her eyes hardening, "The virus still lives in the world. People who aren't like us do too. And they will catch the Flare. There is no hiding form it if you are not immune like us... And once the Flare has taken over one's mind, you don't want to be near them. They are deadly, killing machines who are not right in their mind, dear... we stay here for our own safety. And..." she stopped, a look of pain flashing across her face which her daughter noticed immediately.
"And what? What's wrong?" she asked, panic filling her little voice.
Silence. And more silence. It was silent for minutes before her mother spoke up, and when she did so, her voice was tight. She shifted so her eyes could stare at her daughter straight in the eye, and she said, "They call us Munnies dear...and they really, really hate us.."

Twelve years have gone by since your parents have told you your secret. You were five or six then, making you now seventeen or eighteen. You continued on with your life. Meeting new friends in your cave community, making your daily routine. Keeping it, and repeating the same thing every day of your life until now..

For some reason, lately, you have been thinking things, that, if your parents knew, would have you locked up, not leaving your cave until you can persuade them that you are over your insane thoughts.

You have been wondering many things...Including why you still live in this small valley of caves. You've been wondering why you haven't decided to leave yet...Why you haven't left this place and either go back to civilization, or make your own home, with your own rules. Here, you are told to be in your cave from dusk to dawn, in fear someone would come and injure you at night...And many other rules that have been pushing you to the limit recently...

There is one thing that you don't know though... You aren't the only one who have been having these thoughts...Do you tell your best friends, and find out others are having these thoughts, too? Or do you keep them to yourself?

| - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - | - |

So what is your choice? Do you stay with what you have known all of your life? Or do you head out on your own, burning your own paths? Find Out In...

A young eighteen year old male stood on a ledge near his den, his black eyes looking over the now waking community. His jaw clenched in frustration as he looked towards the sky, thoughts streaming through his mind. He wanted to be out searching the forest for food now, while it was still cool, but rules state that no hunting is allowed until the sun appears completely over the horizon. Rules state this and that and this and that...Collin let out a growl, his muscles bulging before he soothed himself, reminding himself that anger is not that answer, even though he wished it was. The ledge he stood on was secluded, unable to be reached unless one were to fly there, which he did. He let his eyes slowly move from cave to cave, stopping on one as he saw a tiger emerge, then jump from the ledge and take off into the still dark forest.
He let a small smirk come to his face, knowing very well who that was, and knowing that she was going out for a hunt, despite her excuses of needing to go for a jog before she could hunt. He nodded slowly to himself, before glancing around for any adults, and, seeing none, leapt off of the ledge. He let himself fall for about ten feet before straightening his arms, and then gliding up towards the sky, a falcon now replacing a man's figure.

A young seventeen year old female slowly opened her blue eyes, awaking to the sound of scuttling around in her cave. Turning her head to look towards the front, she noticed her Father busying himself with cleaning their house. She closed her eyes and shook her head slightly, before pressing her palms to her eyes, rubbing them awake. Sighing quietly, she reopened her eyes and sat up from her bed made of hay, and watched her Father clean for a few moments before actually speaking. "Good morning, Father," she said quietly, in her soft, delicate voice. She was greeted with a small grunt as he stood straight, as he had been sweeping, and turned towards her, nodding. "Good morning, dear. Do you mind helping me out, here?" She stood, without replying, knowing that even if she didn't want to, which she didn't, she had no choice.
Thirty minutes later, she told her Father fare well, and stood at the mouth of her den, eyeing the community for any awake residents. She spotted a falcon flying overhead, and a tiger running into the woods. She cast a quick glance towards the horizon, seeing that the sun was not yet fully up, but would be within half an hour, and then furrowed her brow at the other two. She didn't care about the rules either, in fact, she was fully against them, but unlike most others, she wasn't willing to break them for the sake of it. Sighing, she began to descend down the stairway that led from each cave to the ground, and then stood at the base of the slate mountain, and leaned against it, closing her eyes with a sad sigh.

A fair skinned, black haired teenager crept out of her slate den, her Mother still asleep, and slowly, silently padded out from her den and down the stairs, all the while making sure no others were out, because if she was caught, there would be punishment...
Once at the bottom of the mountain ridge, she let out a sigh of relief, before letting her green eyes wander across the valley, and then the forest on the other side. To get there, she would either have to cross the valley, and risk being exposed, or take her time and run along the mountain side, where the four parts of her community met in a point; the stream, mountain, valley and forest.
It only took her a few seconds to decide: Risk being exposed, or risk others getting food first. Smirking, she eyed the mountains before sprinting through towards the valley, and in mid-stride transforming into her tiger form, as the tiger is much faster than the human. She leapt over the skinniest part of the river, and landed with ease on her paws, before continuing towards the forest.
Within six minutes of leaving the safety of the shadows of the mountain, she reached the forest, and she finally slowed, only slightly winded after her sprint, and padded into the forest, a grin on her face.

Kenton -- Black Panther -- Open
The rules? Who cared. For the most part Kenton didn't.
He left his mother sleeping and quietly stepped around her. As an early-riser Kent had the benefit of slipping past his mother undetected, since the woman disliked his rebellious choices.
There were reasons for rules, she told him every day. Kent just stared at her with his dead-eye expression.
He left the cave, scruffy blonde hair blowing into stern features. Once in the trees, his hard blue eyes softened.
Only a little.
Oh how nice it was to breathe fresh forest air without the contamination of other living beings. He hated the cave. Nature was so much more welcoming. It was silent, sheltering, and loyal. Never would the trees betray him.
It was not often that Kenton shifted. He could climb a tree as a human, or a panther, and did so now. The Englishman selected a tall deciduous with thick branches and foliage, and scaled it. Choosing a branch to sit on, with his back to the trunk and good vantage point, Kenton pulled his notebook out of his inner jacket pocket. Out came a pen, pages ruffled and the book sat open in his lap.
What to write today.
It is early morning.
I prefer this time of day. Night-time is my favourite. It's a shame there is little way of going out at that hour. I would...perhaps I will risk it sometime. Even I know better than to test the limits of the rules to that extend. Such a rebellious action requires careful planning. Flawless calculations.
I dislike this life. Maybe one day I'll be able to enter something in this pathetic journal that is exciting. Every day is the same....

He paused. Well, excluding that one time he'd met a bear and it had pushed him right out of the tree. Good thing cats always land on their feet.

The tigress padded silently through the forest, her nose twitching to the scents of deer and rabbits and...her hackles raised, picking up on the scent of another human. Though, when she stuck her snout right to the scent, a smirk came to her orange, velvet muzzle. She had picked up on traces of feline in the scent, and knew that it could be one of two members of the community. Kenton or Amber. And considering the smell had a distinctive male trace, that only left one.
Smirking, she followed it until she arrived at the base of a large tree, and then looked up, spotting a figure leaning against the mane trunk. Holding back a laugh, she took a few steps back, before launching herself at the trunk, managing not to make much noise or to move the tree as she began to slowly climb upwards, until she was a few feet above the male. Grinning, she positioned herself in a laying position on the thick branch, but let her tail hang down, in the sight line of the male, waiting for his reaction to the swinging tail.

~Aerona~
This was the perfect time, the sun just barely starting to peek over the horizon. This time of day was when the animals moved the most since it was one of the coolest. There with in some thick brush I crouched. Silver eyes locked upon a young buck that was carefully picking away at what was even on the ground. I had watched this magnificent creature wonder into the small clearing. If I had not been for the slightest snap of a twig that my sensitives ears picked up, I would have walked out there and spooked the being away. I crouched there thanking the heavens for not being a normal human. The young beast moved slowly step my step, as it took each one, my body shifted readying to take the shot. There he is getting closer and closer. The bow string was pulled back as I waited for him to move one more, yes right there.

Thuwng the bow string with when the deer bucked back slightly, jumping at the same time. The arrow sticking into it's side. A satisfied smile crossed over my lips as the beast bonded off. I had did a killing shot but the deer had just enough energy, and well adrenaline to bound off probably a good 10 yards or so. (Know this for a fact since I hunt.) Standing fully up now, I pulled the bow string over my head so that it laid a crossed my chest. Carefully I walked over to were the deer had once stood and looked down to it. The scent of blood was well mouth watering. Quickly I followed after the small blood trail as I searched for my prize.

A small clanking sound was heard as I gently placed the boom up against the cave's wall. With a small sigh I looked over the muscular male that stood there washing the dished. "I have finished father, I am going to go out and start get ready to go hunting." I called to him. He grunted in return as I moved out of the small cave. Just as I did so, I notice from the corner my eye the shade of orange that belongs to a tiger. I just shook my head already knowing who it was and what she was doing. I turned from the forest and over to a small patch of stuff. There was some ropes for trapping and then some other supplies. I looked over them for a moment before I shifted into my Spirit Animal.

I stood there as a rather large male whitetail deer, so in other words a buck. Yes my animal was that of a prey to many people and trust me I know that. Thinking about that I looked down at my rump were there was a scar of claws and teeth marks. I have learned the hard way not to wonder the forest alone as a deer, I seem rather to tasty to some of my friends. A small snort was given as I moved over to a pointed stone that stuck straight up into the air. There I started to rub my antler's off of it sharpening the points.

Kenton -- Black Panther -- Angelia
Kenton caught the scent. An empty forest had quite a different vibe than an occupied one.
Slowly he looked up at the tail and then back at his journal. Briskly he shut the little book and tucked it away. "Can I help you." It was not a question, more of an accusation.
Kent didn't enjoy being disturbed, and certainly not toyed with. He could play too.
In that moment he considered shifting and slipping away. Running.
But this was his spot. He'd gotten here first.
So he wasn't the only rebel here. The only rule bender. Of all people to approach, he thought he'd be the last. He would have preferred that.
This was, Kenton pulled the name from his mental databanks, Angelia.
Everything he knew about everyone was from observation. He rarely talked to his cave-mates. Now here he was.
Kenton reviewed the mental list of friends he'd made so far. It was still blank.

The tigress snorted quietly as his accusation, and rolled her eyes slightly to Kenton's reaction. Shaking her head slightly, she curled her tail around her hind-legs, and looked down to him with her crystal clear green eyes. "Good morning to you, too," she said, snorting softly. Eyeing the branch below her, where he sat, carefully, she softly leapt down to the branch to be able to look levelly at him. "Of all the people, I least expected you, Kenton, to be a bender of the law," she said, a small teasing smile playing over her muzzle. A bee buzzed around her ear, and she snorted, and pawed it away with her large orange stripped paw.
Glancing back to the young male who sat in his normal, human form, she titled her head softly, "How come you prefer to be alone?' she asked softly, her brow furrowing at the end of her question. She looked at the human with her soft, yet clear, green eyes, awaiting an answer.
