I don't understand what's so bad about Asuna...? She's not even close to the worst female lead out there.

Some spoilers if people haven't watched a lot of SAO and SAO II episodes
I agree Asuna isn't the worst female lead ever, but she lost a lot of her strong female personality appeal when the fairy part came into play. I mean in Aincrad she was awesome with a sword and kicked but because she worked hard and used her head, but when she got trapped in Elfheim, she lost a lot of that appealing independence because she did almost nothing. Admittedly she was locked up a lot of the time, but even with the GGO arc, it was almost like the writers were getting rid of her right off the bat with the first few episodes. I'm not sure if there's anyone else who agrees with my opinion. I loved Asuna, it's just that the writers kind of brought her down a lot throughout the series...

Mild spoilers for SAO, highlight or quote to read:
That's true enough. Although at least she did manage to break out, that was something. I don't know if she had the physical strength in Elfheim that she had in Aincrad, so she had to solely rely on brainpower, and she bided her time until she thought that she could make a clean break. Because she had no weapons or no real way of fighting back, that seems like a logical approach to me. If she had acted up more, it probably would have been counterproductive to her escape plan - the last thing she needed was people constantly watching her. Granted, it didn't really do much in the end, but she at least put in some sort of effort, just in a different way.

I don't think the writer is trying to get rid of her, although it can't be denied that he is putting a higher focus on Kirito. I haven't read the LNs past the GGO arc, but I do know the seventh volume is dedicated to Asuna, so that's something.

That's good to hear. I haven't made it past GGO either, but now I'm looking forward to the seventh volume

Actually, I didn't realize this until just now after looking at the SAO novel titles, but it almost seems like all of this thus far is just build-up for something a lot bigger. I'm thinking that what we've seen so far, with Aincrad, Elfheim and GGO isn't the important part of the story, it was just a little glimpse and the set-up to put something much bigger into place.
That's just a guess since I haven't read it yet. I'll probably start looking at them soon though.

Why do some people hate on SAO? I think it was a pretty good anime.

i personally can't stand SAO and never understood the hype but that's just me. i like the art style though and the blue-haired girl she was hot i haven't even watched anything with her yet

does anyone know a cute lesbian manga or anime :3c i need some cute girls kissing in my life. something with a majority or 100% female main cast is great too, as long as it's not something hella lewd. thanks!

Speaking of SAO abridged,
has anyone else seen it?
If so,
what are your opinion on Kirito being an insane psychopathic who has literally no sense of morality,
and laughs at the sight of human suffering?

This sounds a little strange, but I wish that he'd been more like he was in the abridged in the actual anime. The character was actually deeper, appearing to be a complete psychopath but then crying in his room by himself when a friend dies. It was less of a mary sue based personality than the real Kirito, and one that worked very well.
