Blinking, he twirled around and fell back into a sitting position. Cloudpaw quickly got up however, the young apprentice nodding before trying to not be afraid, keeping his eyes open. He ran to Shadowstripe's side, then tackled the warrior's hind legs, hoping to trip him as he slid behind the tom.

"Even so I will not pair up with a tom for the sake of kits." She spoke almost defiantly, but meant no anger towards the old tom. Acornfrost kept looking ahead, watching the other cats go about their business. "Well I don't see a problem with it," speaking so only he could hear. "I mean I was a rouge before I came here. I don't know if you remember me then, when I first came into the clan. Nobody warmed up to me and if they did, I didn't warm up to them. But it was still a place to stay, more protection.."

She nodded as she listened to the queen speak. ''You'd be willing to give up your rank to make someone else happy?'' The she-cat was honestly pondering the question herself. ''Do you really think it'd be worth giving up your rank?'' The she-cat realized that she was getting off track and tried to cover it up. ''I mean it will only be for six moons. You'll have your rank back soon enough. And your kits will be beautiful.'' She felt a pang of guilt as she thought of the fact that she would never be able to have kits and be a medicine cat. Being a queen and taking care of kits seemed like it would be so fun, but she also loved her job as the medicine cat.

She smiled at the medicine cat cringing as she realized the black and white cat would never experience that. "Well, I don't want to be stuck in camp for those 6 moons. And I really, never, wanted to be a queen. But I love him so much, and this, this makes him very happy." She smiled to herself shaking her head. "Sometimes the people you love are more important than the job. You can always come back to the job, kits are your legacy. I'm nervous but excited to see what the puff balls look like."

The black and white she-cat flashed a friendly smile across her face. ''Yeah, I'm sure that he was very happy.'' Her black and white tail swept from side to side. Chickadeeflight's smile faded as she watched the queen cringe. She must have been thinking the same thing that I was. ''Don't worry, you'll get to take plenty of walks to occasionally have a break from the kits. They'll be a lot funner than you think they will be. I think that Cherrykit and Emberkit will appreciate having other kits to talk to. They will be adorable.'' I wonder if I'll ever have Aspenthorn's kits. It would definitely cost me the rank of medicine cat. I don't think Leafpaw is anywhere near ready to be medicine cat yet. I still have a lot to teach her. ''Kits are the only thing that ever makes a medicine cat question their path, but in the end we always know what is the right thing to do. Our clan is always extremely important.''

Smokeblossom blinked looking at the medicine cat seem to consider something. "Have you ever questioned your path as medicine cat? I don't know, I don't want to be a queen. But seeing how happy it made my mate, and knowing they are both a part of me and him. It's worth it, to me." She nodded smiling at the young medicine cat. "Whatever is troubling. You'll make the right decision."

Aspenthorn poked his head out of the foliage looking down at his leader. "It's just up ahead. I can see her waiting for us, she seems committed. A little nervous."
