That because if you adopt the gift now you have a chance getting red and black dogs, the black dog is full grown on 26 December and the red one on 27 December, so if you adopt the red dog on 28 or 29 etc it will be full grown already.

Not necessarily so. I adopted them on the 26th and none grew. The red was the one that grew for me. I don't have the black one yet.

I got a black one but no red one. I'm pretty sure the mechanics are the same as a normal litter: pure chance.

They grow based on their age, not the date on which they were adopted

Okay, to stop that discussion here: Day 1 for the Kwanzaa Dog is not correct as they grow on a specific date and not after a certain time. 26th Dec '10 for the black and 27th Dec '10 for the red one.
