Pillow on the floor and the sheets in a huge mess on the bed, the large figure amongst the mess
lay fast asleep on his stomach. Seemingly out cold and looking as though he had a restless night sleep.
But that wasn't the case, no... that's just how he slept. Looking like he had been strangled in his sleep
or just couldn't find the right position so he spent the rest of the night flopping about until he was
finally too tired and just passed out. No, he just moved around a lot in his sleep. Just like he did
during the day.
The annoying sound of his phone vibrating on his bed side table was the only thing that could wake him
up so easily. Maybe it was because it was annoying or maybe just because he would always think it was
someone calling him. Whatever the reason, it was the only thing that woke him up this morning too.
Groaning, he reached for the phone and slid his finger across the screen then sat up and stretched.
Looking at the checkerboard patterned screen he had set on the phone, he noticed the time said 6:30.
Wow, perfect timing, no way that will last, he thought, and it was true. The first day back to school
was always the easiest to wake up. Any day after that, he was most likely going to be running late.
Sliding out of his mess of sheets and blankets, he bent down and tossed his pillow back onto the
bed before heading to his closet and searching through the many plain T-shirts he had before settling
on a regular old grey shirt. Pulling it on and completing the outfit with a pair of much needed black
jeans, he ran a comb through his mop of hair and headed out of his room. A quick cup of coffee, some
good morning exchanges with his family and a quick run back to the bathroom to brush his teeth
were the last things on his morning schedule before he exited through the garage and took off on his
skateboard to school.
The whole way there he focused on his music and the sidewalk as he tried to remember if he had
taken his pain medication before taking off. He realized he hadn't, but didn't feel like he needed
it anymore anyway. It had been almost a week since he had made an almost fatal mistake. Falling from
that tree had knocked him unconscious and dislocated his shoulder, but a week later, and he was
feeling better than ever. But the memory of the dream he had while he was out... still bugged him.
He really wished he could have another dream like it, but hadn't since the fall. It was amazing...
like... a whole new world. A whole different universe. No blacks, whites, and greys. But bright and
vibrant colors.
He shook the memory from his head, wanting to forget about it. He would never see it again most likely.
Turning his skateboard towards the parking lot, he jumped off and bent down to grab the board,
tucking it under his arm as he approached the school doors. He had been going here since he was
a freshman, so the hallways and faces around him were all too familiar. Schedule in hand, he scanned
the walls of grey lockers for his number, finally coming up on it. He twisted and turned the little dial
until he was sure he had it right and popped the large door open. He placed his skateboard inside, then
shut the door, feeling he had no more use for the thing, when the girl three lockers down grabbed his
attention. She was clearly frustrated with the thing and he smirked, watching her struggle with anger
to open it. His gazed flashed back to the girl who had stopped behind them... recognizing her, but
not being able to recall the name, he gaze her an amused glance, then looked back at the poor girl
struggling. "Do... do you need any help there?" He questioned, holding back a chuckle.
