Thank you very much Simmarrah. I like the colors and some of the shading and highlights, but there are parts of the shading/highlights that I don't really care for, mostly around the mouth.

Task 3

"She is stubborn. So incredibly stubborn that I cannot even find words for it. Take the stubborness of Umbra and Kuroshi to not like each other and multiply it a few times and maybe you start getting close. If she does not want she won't and there is no chance of changing this with any trick at all. You either do something that pleases her or you will be ignored. I mean her swift movements would be perfect for dressage but like hell I am ever going to try that with her attidute to do exactly the opposite thing expected from her just because she can do it.
Hm.. the only thing that might get her distracted from ignoring you are strawberries... Well that might fall under the cathegory things that pleases her, right? And show her attention! She proudly shows off like a peacock in front of you if you drow her in attention and it is obvious that she loves it being treatened like a true queen.
But never, never let her come close to mud.The lady like behaviour will be gone and she tosses her right inside the mudhole rolling around like a young hyperactive foal. It took me hours to make her look like a Kari again and not like a walking monster out of a swamp. And of course the whole time she watched me like all of this was my own fault and I had deserved this as a punishment of whatever I have done wrong before. Althought now I really want to go to the beach with her just to see her reaction when she is able to run trough the sand and the water!
You should see her running! The swift and energetic movement, the speed, her competitive nature never letting her fall behind the other members of my herd. She is always the first and if she isn't she will run until she is. If I can get her to accept myself onto her back I definately want to sign up to races together with her. I can only imagine how close to flying it would be if I can sit on her back while she runs down the meadows at full speed.
I will give everything to gain her trust! I know she carries a lot of mistrust and actually also some kind of fear against humans but I am more than willing to spend all the time needed to show her that she can rely on me. Trust needs to built slowly and I will give her all the time she needs until she gets that I am more than just a pet that brushes her mane and brings her food if she demands it."

"You should start writing romance novels. If you strike the parts that allow someone to make the conclusion that you are talking about a Narakari and add a few other fluffy things you could sell this pretty well as a speech of a love blind guy."

Narakari Grand Tournament – How to tame your Narakari

Personality. + Fitting Halter

Classical music played lightly over the indoor arena's speakers. Easy piano, lulling the mind into work. Rin sat in the center of the large arena with her eyes shut, allowing the music to remove any worries she may have. Tir was sensitive to any emotion she brought to their works. So she found playing music helped her relax and worked about the same on the stallion. Their day had just began and she could hear him still moving slowly around the arena, mapping the walls by methodically kicking sand against them. She knew to wait, and oddly enough liked to wait with her eyes shut. It gave her more of an idea as to where Tir was, it seemed to make her more sensitive. After the first song ended she gave her wrist a slight twist, a small bell tinkled in reply. She listened hard for Tir's reaction. Knowing her heart beat would quicken she had to beg herself to calm down and be patient. She didn't have to wait long, soon she could hear Tir's slow movements closer and closer to the middle until she could feel the soft tickling of his whiskers on her arm and feel his easy warm breath. She twisted her wrist again, jingling the bell, and opened her eyes. She lifted her hand and rested it on his dark velvet nose. Then stood and slipped the braided halter off of her shoulder, twisted her wrist once more and as the stallion dipped his head she placed it on him like she was bestowing a crown.

This had been no easy feat, but she would be silly if she could even dream that he would open up so willingly to her. And as she pulled out the soft brush to begin working over his body and making his amazing coat shine she took stock of how she felt his personality could be and where he fit in with her growing band.

She had noticed early on he was quick, and had a very analytical mind. This made training a breeze, for the most part as long as she was deliberate with what she intended. He also came across to her as versatile and slightly creative and imaginative, not in a bad way though. You may think a blind creature with a healthy imagination would be cause for alarm. But often it was more like he knew what was going on before she did.

He did have an independent streak, he seemed to need freedom and positivity to blossom. And he definitely had an urge for action, didn't like to remain idol. He always seemed happy as long as they were making headway in the training. but if he began to feel obstructed or confined he would experience spots of nervousness. Almost like frustration, but not even that heavy. Just fairly nervous. So Rin learned from him when it was best to back off, or point him in another direction.

A few times she had come to work him and found him almost in a state of depression, and such days he was so caustic to be around and down right belligerent that she couldn't do much with him but work his body, and just avoid his mind all together. And she noticed that if their work became monotonous and she started fussing over details to much it brought these spells on.

She had found that with small things like the classical music gave him a more relaxed manner and he seemed more generous, understanding, and tolerant. But he still will build tension and become nervous, not because of one specific thing but just a build up in a restless intensity that defies relaxation.

She did notice smaller things about his character soon after she began working with him. He would take care of her, no matter what. Many times she had been on his back, usually bareback and he would stumble or even fall. Throwing her off of him accidentally but he never would step or fall on her, and took great care to know where she was at all times. This also made him perfect to lead, he knew where she was and never pulled or pushed or stood too close.

He always stayed clean. This seemed highly surprising to her when she first laid eyes on him in the pens. But once she could get water on him and scrub away the mess his coat had been, he shone right down to his soul. It was really something to behold and rarely did she have to break out a stiffer brush to groom him.

The biggest quirk she seemed to find with him was he liked to step off before she was fully seated. and no matter the battles she waged to stop this, he could always fight harder.

She also noticed that even on windy days or cool days after the boiling heat of midday when all the others would take this opportunity to become reckless and snap up their heels. He barely flicked an ear to them. She still kept him in his own run, just because she still babied him about his lack of sight. But Rin just told herself it made him easier to bring in. but he never played or goofed off, at least not since she had brought him to her home.

She did notice that he paid close attention to her husband, and notably when her was out mowing he had placed his bottle of hard cider on Tir's fence post. Next second it was gone. Seems he has a penchant for beer!

Grand Tournament - Task Three

Personality: This is written as if typed from Ruby's POV as she is cataloguing what she has learned about her Narakari so far...

Baelfire is a young mare, just two and a half years old. She has a beautiful seal bay tobiano coat with the unusual feature that is sometimes known as the "halo" effect. This is when the outer edge of the dark pattern has a lighter "shadow" effect that makes it look almost 3D.
Her genetic code has been given as "EE/AtAt/ToTo" (for those of a scientific nature, including myself). And her height is listed at 15.0hh (151cm), which is tall for a mare.
After our first meeting, Bae (this is the nickname I have given her) decided on a mutually beneficial arrangement. I continue to bring her food and keep her stall clean and in return she allows me to groom her and prove that I am worth trusting. So far, this system is working quite well, Bae gives a little more of her trust each day that I prove I won't harm her. But sometimes, I wonder if she had a bad experience on her return trip, as she is extremely untrusting of males? When she sees a man coming, she slinks into the back of the stall as if to hide? One time, I actually did find her trying to hide in the straw bedding!
She is very timid when there are strangers around, but I seem to be the exception. I think in some way, we've become a bit clingy to each other, almost a symbiotic relationship where I can't stand to be away from her, and she frets when I'm not there at a specific time...we have such a finely tuned routine now that any deviation upsets us both.
It's taken a lot of patience and hard work to get her to the point where I am able to put a halter on her. She's quite frail in some ways, so I don't think she will be much of a sport horse, perhaps a trail ride is about all I would ask of her, something quiet and not too stressful.
A dog barked outside her stall once, I saw her leap into the air in fright...if I could calm her some, she might make a potentially amazing jumper? Something for the future perhaps?

Halter: For Baelfires halter, I wanted pretty yet functional. She's a Paint, so I wanted to go with something traditional looking because I think it fits her shy personality. I was going for a look that was rope, feathers, fur...this was what I came up with. It's a fairly simple design. The colours remind me of beads, and the design is vaguely Native American looking. But I think my favourite part has to be the white fur trim. I left out any face parts so that nothing would interfere with her crystal horns. I'm actually quite pleased with how it came out in the finish.


Bonus Task
For the personal item for Baelfire, I was going to make her a friendship bracelet in the same colours as the halter, but I burned my arm putting wood in the fire and gave up on detailed crafting. Then I discovered feather hair ties on the internet and because I used to make dreamcatchers I still had my stash of beads, hoops, and wire...plus all my spare feathers...so I decided to make her a fiery red feather accessory that could be either braided into her mane, or (if that didn't agree with her) attached to her bridle.

Personal Item



Rin learned early on with her dealings with Tir that if something foreign touched him, and he could neither discern the smell or feel of it, it would cause him to balk. So slowly and with the help of peppermint wrappers she trained him to accept things, and moved him over from the sound of the wrapper to a bell that she would wear around her wrist. So if she wanted to brush him or spray water, or fly spray or really anything, once she gained his trust he would hear the bell and know that something was coming that he might not fully understand but that it was okay because it was someone he trusted, and it wouldn't hurt him.

But of course with any jewelry Rin wears it's seen many a rough patch and even though leather is pretty durable she still finds a way to break it, hence the many knotted pieces.

Zack shot out of the waves, shouting excitedly. He waved the sand dollar in the air, his newest prize from the Gulf of Mexico, and went under as a wave crashed over him. Simmarrah frowned: the water was rough today, 10 foot waves, and she didn't want her little brother getting pulled out by the rip tide. She was sitting on the shore, building a sand castle, and keeping a close eye on her family. Rowena stayed by her side, refusing to go in the water, but Nagate ran about in the shallows, making as big of a splash as he could. She looked back to Zack, who was swimming through the trough between the sand bar and the shore. Nagate made his way to him, whickering, and Zack climbed onto his back, grateful for the help. He steered the stallion to shore, and his sister, and piled up all the cool things he had found next to her. Nagate was very interested in the shells: they were pretty and smelled funny. He kept touching the sand dollars with his muzzle. Sam laughed. "If you like it so much, we will put them in your stalls."

I made a simple bow for Abraxus in Isabela's major colors, it can be fitted to his headcollar/bridle with minimal fuss. I was originally going to make a small jump of woven twigs but decided against it. The bow was going to be blue with 1st written on it in gold but red and black seemed more appropriate for his rider. I felt a bow would be more meaningful than a jump <3
