What is a Baerough Hound?

A Baerough Hound (pronounced Bay-Row Hound), or Baehund (pronounced Bay-Who-End), is a genetically mutated canine species. They are very large, ranging from 4 - 6ft tall and about 150 - 200lbs. They are built to be very agile creatures, and while they cannot fly like most winged animals they do have the ability to glide for long distances. Much like bats, Baehunds use echolocation to find their way around. They have no eyes, but rather a thin membrane covering a sensory hole in their skulls that allows them to sense heat and cold, a trait they probably retained from snakes. Just like snakes they also have two fang-like canines and a forked tongue, the rest of their mouth being fairly bare and hollow to aid in swallowing large prey. Their thin elongated toes and thick whip-like tail allow them to be strong climbers, and grant them an amazing ability to balance, as if they could defy gravity itself.

Whats their history?

Baerough hounds were first discovered in Jurassic times, where they roamed the earth as small and vulnerable dinosaurs. Over time, they survived the extinction of their cousins and slowly grew larger and stronger. Humans had lived alongside them, and once a few started capturing and taming these creatures, they became popular working pets. Around the Victorian era these creatures suddenly died off, and were announced extinct. It wasn't until now that a small pack isolated on a previously uncharted island was discovered, and now they are being bred in captivity to increase their numbers.

What are they like?

Baehunds are very spunky pups with an affinity for decor. They enjoy being dressed in gems and jewelry, and will never turn their nose up to a good accessory. Many of them prefer piercings and tattoos over clothing or styled fur, but they enjoy the attention nevertheless. This is especially helpful in shows and competitions!

Can you ride them?

Technically, yes! Their large size and immense strength means they were the perfect mounts for our ancestors, and even now its quite the ride to hop on the back of one. However due to their very independent and proud nature, a Baehund really has to trust and care for it owner before it will let them try such a thing, or else it may send you flying face first into the ground.

Where do they live?

Baehunds are very adaptable creatures, and can be found just about wherever large sections of trees are found. They require large territory, but can otherwise be comfortable in any environment.

What do they eat?

As omnivores, baehunds have developed a taste for a large variety of food. Though the most common prey tends to be rodents, they also seem to enjoy sweet fruits and berries.

What do they sound like?

Baehunds have a very interesting range of vocalization. The base of their noise seems to be canine based, mostly low rough barks and high pitched yips, though they do have an unusual hyena-like laughter that they only emit towards humans. They also use a collection of clicks and chirps, though it is rare to see fully domestic adults use that forum of communication.

What is the pack system?

Baehunds are a patriarchal creature, meaning the usually follow the males of the group as leaders. Because it is so common for same sex pairs to appear in the species, its not too strange to find packs that fully exclude females. In instances where heterosexual pairs lead the pack, other females in the group will usually be cast off as loners.

How do they breed?

All Baehunds have the capability to bare young. While they have a set of distinctly male and female body parts, the young are actually produced through an intertwining of the tails. This action can be carried out by same sex or hetero pairs.

I want to suggest a design!
Color Scheme: I'd like to see some lighter colors, since most of the Beahunds so far have been on the dark side. Maybe a little blue in it too.
Markings: Perhaps some swirls on it with stripes to go with the swirls.
Accessories: A tie? I don't really know on this part
Line Edits?: It'd be cool if it was fluffier
Ideas for adoption requirements?: A raffle would be fun

Oooo. I like those ideas, maybe I'll apply for an artist's position later on and attempt one.

I find it a bit odd that all the art I have of Lykos so far are headshots of him facing left.

You don't need to apologize, throwing is encouraged XD Lykos needs to get to know some more Beahunds anyways.

And I also just got my second Baehund; the lovely Ember!

So because I have started GED classes, it has come to my attention that CS is to be the least of my worries. I will not be able to be online as often, keep up with things as well, and I will most definitely be pretty scatterbrained for the next three months or so. If there is anything you need, any questions or concerns you have, or anything you think I may have forgotten please dont be afraid to message me! I really would like to keep this lovely adopt going as I have an ever growing attachment to this darling species, but I need everyone's patience for it to work right now <3

Hmm, Shady, how would you feel about doing a tribal skeleton custom with a black base and some sort of bone themed jelelery. >.> Or something with a tree pattern or dinosoar themed adopts. The skele would be mine though.
