Do you guys have any plans that involve swimming or water this summer? ;D I might take sailing. I also tried out canoe paddling - super fun, but /wow/ did my back hurt!! I felt muscles aching that I didn't even know were there O_O

Swim team
What you have done:
Just practices and stuff (long course season is coming to a close)
What you want to do:
Go into meets during the short course season
What got you into it:
I used to swim in elementary school but then we moved so I took a break from swimming to get used to new school, area, people, etc.
Advice you'd give to people interested in the same sport(s):
Just have fun with it and if you put your mindset to it, you can do great!

Favorite parts:
Diving (with not much practice XD but then again our coaches are teaching us running starts tomorrow so)
Least favorite parts:
Getting into the pool and it being freezing
What do you want to discuss the most on this thread? What interests you best?:
Anything related to water, duh!

Great to have you, CZ! =D I've been trying to improve my diving skills lately. It's difficult for me somehow, but I'm sure I'll get it down with more practice. I assume you're doing race dives? How are you at it?

Heh, we were practicing running starts on our last day of practice and my goggles broke on my first dive. I'm the best at race dives, but I'm starting to get it now. It's quite interesting since you have to have your body positioned just right or the dive is just a failure.

Yeah, that's very true. I was practicing my dives at a local pool and while I was definitely able to propel myself into the water, I feel like my form was off. Of course, I couldn't tell, and it all happens so fast. I need to get someone to videotape me or watch me as I do it so I can improve, I think. XD It helps having confidence going into it. After a few dives I let things in my head get to me and I started belly flopping. @_@ People always told me I can't dive while I was learning it and it was kind of discouraging, ugh.

Also I should mention this kind of interesting story. This happened the first day I joined swim team (let's just say I joined wayyy too late... as in over halfway through high school late haha...). I was right about to swim when one of the team members came up to me and told me I was going to hate it. It totally shocked me - like why would you do that? You're going to say something negative like that ten seconds before I get in the water and try to prove myself? /sigh Well, I made the team but that side comment irked me a lot. I don't understand why people have to be so negative and discouraging -_-

what you want to do: continue being on the team?
to be more specific, i want to get more a times and make the junior olympics cut in 100 lcm backstroke
what got you into it: my mom
plus some friends and some extra time
and a need to exercise my lungs ( i have asthma )
advice you'd give to people interested in the same sport(s): practices get easier as you go.

favorite parts: managing to get a cut
the other day, i made the a time exactly
least favorite parts: when..
the head coach makes up the practice. his are ridiculously hard, man.
and
you miss a cut by a second due to leaking goggles.

I really want to be a part of my school's team/club next year but I'm worried it won't fit into the schedule. I'll probably at least tryout though, I feel like I'd regret it if I didn't at least attempt it. I started swimming really late, so it's kind of a giant game of catch up when it comes to being on teams with people, heh heh
