ranait has made a name for herself by being ornery and acting like a bit of a princess. she tends to be stubborn as a mule, and often cantankerous, wary of all humans, other than her owner. she's a free spirit who prefers to be ridden bareback, and does not tolerate the saddle for a long period of time. she has been known to snap when she doesn't like something, and is very expressive in her emotions. she is not a fussy eater, but she holds herself to a higher esteem than the other ponies that she knows. though typically social creatures, ranait is automatically wary of ponies she doesn't know, and sticks with her tight-knit group of close friends as if her life depended upon it. she doesn't like dogs, but has been known to let the family cat sleep upon her back. though she isn't an easy horse to work with, she trusts fully in her owner and is loyal to her forever. when in the right mood, she can be playful, though her idea of fun borders on dastardly and michievous. she does not respond to commands, and demands to be treated with an equal respect to work for her riders, and isn't afraid to show teeth if she's man-handled. she can be spooked easily if not approached slowly and with caution, though she is by no means skittish and her 'fight' instinct seems to be stronger than flight for this one.
history
ranait was born as a wild icelandic tolter, and spent most of her developing years roaming free. during a round-up, she was captured, and subsequently put up for sale. she was adopted by monique markey, her current owner, who spent a lot of time working to gain her trust. though initially wary of the human, ranait warmed up to her quickly, and really only feels comfortable in her presence. due to her exceptional stamina, built up over the years of running wild, she was trained for cross-country racing. too impatient for things such as dressage, ranait quickly adapted to the code of x-country, finding it reminiscent of her days as a wild horse. currently, she is settled at tareha point station, where she spends most of her days roaming the grassy peninsula and scavenging apples from her doting owner.
