He had no idea what paper was, and had never written anything down before. The concept of recording and reading information on anything more physical than a screen was hard to grasp for him.

She doesn't understand the gadgets they hold to their ears. She knows they are for communication, but what happened to meeting that person, well, in person? She also doesn't understand why it controls their lives. Every aspect of it. They probably couldn't live with our it, from what she has seen. It truly is odd.

The strangest thing the kit found when she fell from the stars were wooden, sometimes stone structures. She later learned they were called, "houses." At day break some of these houses would light up, and one or two people would come out and start a loud machine, which took them away. Yet all these houses were different sizes, shapes, and colors. And all different kinds of people would come out of them. Rowan wished for a house of her own, but she was content watching instead.

Cell phones. She can't understand people talking to nobody. Its like there talking to somebody, but that person is never actually there. It irritates her because she's not use to it.
