They seemed to admire my coat very much, they fed me and gave me a warm place to sleep, and I began to trust them. They tried to dress me up a couple times, but I wasn't exactly cooperative. Eventually they settled for giving me a coin strung on gold chain, several golden bracelets, and a few ear piercings. I found them annoying at first, but I did admire them, and my owner seemed to be very pleased to see me wearing them."
"One thing I really didn't like though was water, specifically, the ocean. The salt water stung my eyes, it pulled at my fur, and the rocking of a boat was far too unpredictable for my taste. My owner really seemed to like going out on the ocean though. And he'd take me every single time, wearing some ridiculous getup and shouting strange phrases. But I suppose I was a bit desperate to please him, and I went with him, if a bit reluctantly. But that wasn't meant to last, and one day we were far out to sea, the wind had picked up and the waves were rougher then normal, which meant I spent most of my time down in the hold, flat on the deck with my legs splayed out trying not to get tossed around. Several materials tied up against the wall came loose and tumbled around me, a bottle of, presumably, some type of chemical fell right in front of me, the lid popping off with the force of the fall. Some of the liquid splashed into my eyes, the pain came instantly. Tears streaming down my face, I tried to find my way back up to steps, I must have been making a big racket because my owner came down shortly after, and upon getting me up to the top deck, washed my eyes out with fresh water.""This was one of those trips that we stayed out to sea for several days. Perhaps if my owner had been willing to go to shore something could have been done to save my eyesight, but whatever his reasons, after two days the pain was gone, and so was my eyesight. If being on a boat in the middle of the ocean was scary before, it was terrifying when you can't see. We were tossed back and forth by the waves, I couldn't find anything, or even figure out where I was on the boat. The waves threw me against the wall every time I tried to walk. At one point I found my way up to the top deck, and was almost thrown overboard. Eventually I couldn't stand it anymore, I started crying, yelling, anything to get him to take us back to shore. I admit I really wasn't thinking straight, but at that time I could think of nothing except getting off this boat. Eventually we did come up to a shoreline, he carried me over and dropped me on the sand rather roughly. I could hear him turn back towards the boat, and then he was gone. Just like that. It didn't take me very long to realize I was on a deserted island. I was lucky enough that the island was big enough and had enough of an ecosystem to support a group of small rodents I could hunt, and had a fresh water source. I've since learned to catch fish as well, though that was a challenge. After so long without my eyesight, my hearing and sense of smell have more than compensated.""I don't know exactly how many years I've spent on this island, but I'm glad you've found me, I'm ready to get off this hunk of rock." The Zver looked at Wirith, its large eyes, now pale and milky, seemed as if they were staring far into the distance. Their words seemed to float through his mind, and Wirith nodded, realizing a moment later that of course the Zver couldn't see it. "Y-yeah, I'm glad we found you here. Thats horrible what happened to you, I can see why you don't like humans much anymore." he said softly. "Lets get you out of here then, huh?" standing up and leading the Zver to the boat he had come there on. Looking back at this he asked "I don't think I got your name?" The Zver made a motion that looked a lot like a shrug. "I don't like the name my last owner gave me, and I haven't really needed one here, but I've always liked the name 'Vaedren'."First two images drawn by me
