Batpaw felt pain, pain, pain. But it was physical. As she began to attack him though, he decided not to defend. The insults came, and the answer was on his tongue, but he didn't let it escape. But then, she racked his eye. And the ebony tom yowled in agony, before realizing. It was gone. He couldn't feel it. His maw flew open, but no words could come out, or would come out. It was gone. Gone. Then, he touched it with his paw, blood coming away. His ears flickered to the sound of her cursing, her rage. And that hatred. Lifting his head, he gaze at her, and spoke softly. "Goodbye Sunpaw, Ravenstar." With that he clambered up, turned away, not responding to the words following him. If you live for a day, I'll leave you alone. So that was it; he had to live for a day, then stroll back? No. A soft laugh escaped him as he traveled up the path, but even as he laughed, more tears leaked from his remaining turquoise eye. It was funny, the stupid eye didn't even matter. Wasn't like he could see anyway.
But Batpaw still let it out anyway. No one cares. No one. That was all he needed to think off. The blind tom sucked it up when he got to the river, knowing he had to focus for what was to come. I wonder if my eye is really gone, or is it numb. Oh well, I will find out soon enough. Dipping his head into the river, he let the cool, hungry waters sooth his face and take away his miserable tears. Then he stood, and licked up the fresh water. His first challenge. Diving into the river, the current began to pull. Sink or swim. Do or die. Survival of the fittest. Petite and slight of build, he felt the pull hard against his thick ebony pelt. But he kept swimming. Just when he thought he would fail, and that everyone was right about his weak, pathetic self his paw finally hit the muddy bank on the other side. Dragging himself up, he sat, catching his bearings.
Exhausted, mentally drained, and alone. But he had survived, and he knew of very few cats that crossed the river. Batpaw sighed softly, letting the water drip from him. Mission accomplished, but all he felt was numbness. Windtail came this way I'm pretty sure of that. But I need to rest... or find some chamomile. Deciding to rest for a bit, think then search for the herb, the blind tom laid down, licking his maw clean of the blood that had ceased to flow from his eyeball.
