My girls are spayed, but not sure if my boy is neutered....


I guess it only matters if you have a boy and girl dog in the same house at all. I mean, it might not happen, but still, at least one has to be Neutered or spayed for just in case.I have two homes that the dogs are at, but anyway, I've got two girls at one, and a male and female at the other.But as long as my girl is spayed, she can't have puppies, and we never let the boy out-especially on his own-,long enough to make a dog pregnant. Even if he did make a dog pregnant, what does it matter if it's not your dog? Males don't really need to be neutered if the females that are around him all or most days are spayed.And honestly, if it's not necessary to neuter or spay your dog, why put them through all of that? I would only do that to my boys at MY house if I had too...


I'm really not sure if my boys have gotten other dogs pregnant, but I don't let them out without a leash, except for in my backyard.They love Homer,Alaska! I'm not exactly sure how many acres, but I know I have more than two...
Either way, my boys love the exercise. Just wish they would stop chasing the baby goat!


I'm not sure if distemper is required here, but my dogs don't have them. And I don't care what people say, my pit and rottie are actually some of the two most kind dogs you can know.

I Didn't spay my two boys, because I didn't see a need, since the nearest place is a few miles away...


I guess it might come in handy some day, but that's only if the nearest place that could contain a dog is about a mile away, because my boys can run.I don't think they're too girl crazy though...whenever any girl walks in, {not including my girlfriend} they aren't mean, but they just don't care, and when they go to pet them, they just walk off, so... not sure if girl dogs would be a problem... but I know that if they were humans, they wouldn't like girls too much.But who knows.

If a boy dog makes your girls pregnant, you have to deal with puppies, so I would spay the girls if I had them at my place, but I don't currently own the girls.They belong to my mom and dad.If I did have a girl though, even if I didn't have the boys, I wouldn't take a chance with the girls, since I would deal with puppies if she got pregnant. If my dog makes a female pregnant, I don't have to worry. It's not like someone can track my dogs down and make me pay for or deal with part of the litter.

Well, when I say the girls belong to my mom and dad, a boy and a girl belong to my mom, and two girls belong to my dad, but I have my own two boys where I live in alaska...

Trying to figure out when to spay Annie is driving me nuts. I don't want to spay her too early because she is a giant breed, but I also don't want her to get caught by a wandering male. Of course since she is a LGD, bringing her inside is not a option during her heats.

Gotta talk to some other LGD owners. It would be so much easier if we could just bring her inside lol. May have to figure out how to make our buck pen safe for while she is in heat?

Outside of bringing her inside (which, besides sterilizing is the only way to keep her from being bred) you should probably discuss this with her breeder and uphold the breeder contract if it lists spay/neuter.

Id spay before her first heat since your parents will not let her inside.

She may be able to come inside by the time she comes into heat. It really depends on if what we are hoping happens goes through or not.

Im talking to LGD owners, and I'll be talking with our vet as well. So we will figure it out eventually. I'm just trying to get some options together. She is moms dog, so ultimately it's up to her on what happens.

Stupid PAWS New England wont let us get Charley ;_; "Your male isn't neutered, and your dogs dont have distemper."
1: so what if our male isnt fixed?! Charley is spayed!!!
2:Distemper vaccinations aren't even required by the state!!!

It's because there's been a breakout of distemper in RI (which is where she's located, if I'm not mistaken) and they don't want your dogs in trouble if she carries it. It's for your safety.

Another note, PAWS NE would want your male neutered to prevent them getting more unneeded puppies that might have accidentally been sired by him.

I deal with shelters and foster organizations in New England a lot, and they're looking for the BEST possible home for their dogs, and they're trying to prevent situations that put more dogs into homeless situations. Keep that in mind. They're not doing it to be mean. They are just looking out for the best interest for their dog.
