Leona smelled the savory scent of fresh meat, and instantly dragged herself over to the meat. She stuffed as much into her maw as she could, the sudden rush of food into her empty stomach causing her to regurgitate what she had just ate. She felt her fur prickle with the bile, but her stomach finally made noises of hunger and she took a smaller bite and swallowed slowly.
She wanted to eat more, but the idea of vomit made her shiver enough to think twice about it, regardless of how loud her stomach protested.

She only then registered that the strange she-cat had asked for her name, "My name is Leona. I don't come from here, and I don't have a family anymore...," she said, her voice dwindling off into a low grumble.
She looked down and took another nibble of the mouse at her paws. At least she had mad it to somewhere alive.

Brackencloud

"You poor thing." Brackencloud couldn't help but sympathize for Leona. "When you feel stronger I'll help you back to camp and Honeyfrost will take a look at you." Brackencloud realized this cat might not know about the cats in the forest and took her time to explain while Leona ate. "I live in this forest along with numerous other cats, we made a camp and live together, Honeyfrost is our medicine cat. She knows all about herbs and takes care of the injured and sick." Brackencloud wanted to tell Leona more but knew she would not understand it all right away while she was so unwell. "I will tell you more later but for now finish that mouse at your own pace."

Leona's ears focused on the she-cats voice as she spoke, the information that she was being told about peaking her interest. She swallowed another bite of the mouse, before she felt her stomach churn. Leona then decided that finishing the mouse might be a bad idea, as she didn't want to vomit up the rest of the meal that her savior provided.

She sat up and took a breath. She hadn't felt her stomach feel so heavy in quite some time. She processed what Brackencloud had told her while she steadied herself for travel.

"So you're like one big family? Are you all related by blood?" She asked, her ear tipping slightly in curiosity. She took a glance at the half-finished mouse and a look of shame grew on her face. A good meal just went to waste because she couldn't stomach it.

Brackencloud

"We are not all blood related, and I don't speak for others but to me my clan is my kin." Brackencloud wasn't going to hurt Leona's pride by immediately helping her stay up but made sure to be ready if Leona needed help. "Are you ready to go to travel to the camp?"

Leona smiled gratefully to the older cat, getting up slowly with a grunt and letting herself balance on all four of her paws before letting out a shaky breath. Her muscles screamed in protest, suddenly realizing that she couldn't remember the last time she actually sat down and groomed herself.

She felt herself teetering, and immediately put her weight onto Brackencloud without warning. She grunted a small apology and felt her fur growing hot, she hadn't meant to be so useless right off the bat. She expected to have been able to at least walk on her own for a little while before stumbling and maybe have been supported a few times, but obviously her body wasn't going to be doing that.

"I guess I'm going to be using you to walk, sorry to be a burden...," She meowed with a sad smile.

"Don't worry about it." Brackencloud threw some dirt over the remains of the mouse not wanting to attract a fox or badger. "Go at your own pace and just tell me if you need to stop."

Leona nodded and looked down at her paws, willing them to move steadily. She gave a frustrated glare at how shaky she started off, but it didn't take long for her muscles to start warming up to the movements. She allowed herself to relax a little, and let her mind wander a bit.

"Thank you for saving me. I'm worried about your family. Will I be forced to leave?" she asked, no particular emotion in her voice, but curiosity gleaming in her now lively eyes.

"You have no reason to worry, Sunstar is a fair leader and I do not believe that he would force you to leave before you are ready to leave. And I might have something to say about forcing out a cat in your condition." Brackencloud would not stand for it if Leona was not given time to get well in the clan. She took the time to elaborate on clan life "This is MoonClan, Sunstar is our leader, he makes choices for the clan. Skydream was chosen to by Sunstar to be the deputy, she organizes the hunting and border patrols. If Sunstar is unable to lead the clan then the deputy leads the clan until our leader is better, and if the leader dies the deputy then becomes leader and chooses their own deputy." Brackencloud hoped this was not to much information at once for a cat that can barley walk.
