I was on instagram and I heard Namjoon AKA Rap Monster is getting death threats and hate because he was being 'racist' in a interview during a small fanmeeting during the TRB / Redbullet concert I think? Because since he can speak english fluently. He didn;t know what to call 'tan' so he said ' Really black '' and everyone started bashing and hating him like wth,.

here's one of the few videos i could find on the interview since all the others were taken down and the interview video has been edited. rap monster's exact words were "i couldn't see them because they were too black. so, yeah, when the nights get dark, i couldn't find them, because they were too black," he was referring to v and j-hope when they first met. i personally am a little disappointed in rap monster for saying that, but the language barrier is a big thing to consider. i don't know if it was intentional or not, but it could have definitely been avoided; he should have stuck to speaking in korean so he wouldn't have ended up using color as an adjective to someone's skin. however, shame on the fluent english-speakers who did laugh at his comment. lol @ jungkook b tho
welp, rapmon is one of my biases, but b disappoint me. death threats are also taken a little too far.

but ok you gotta agree his solos are vv good. he needs to sing more, because then he can be rapsing monster. like have you heard his song something, one of the rare songs where he sings? damn son.

Okay, 2 things
1. I think rapmon needs to look at my skin tone, and check. Im basically yellow. LOL
legit yellow. Not even pale. Like idols
Im probably as dark or darker than Kai. BUT IM ASIAN.

2. Death threats are a bit to far, but I think Rapmon needs to watch his mouth too.

Like I said earlier. But regardless of a barrier or not, I'm sure he would have been able to speak in Korean
No one is going to force him to speak only English I would think.

I agree with you all. I do think maybe he should be talked to about it, but I don't know if he really meant it to come out that way so death threats are a bit much. Just maybe an explanation. And coming from someone with dark skin I personally don't find it that offending because I understand that English is not his main language, and he doesn't have to speak English all the time so I understand that he's not going to know every phrase out there. I also understand how it can be really offensive to others.

So I just think he needs a little chat explaining why that could be an issue, and teaching him the right words to use. Not death threats that ridiculous. Everyone's going to make mistakes speaking a language they aren't completely fluent in.

Lets just all agree that rapmon could have found a different alternative rather than speaking English, because typically if someone is forced to speak in another language, they either have help or are scripted by the company already. He should have watched his mouth a little more carefully, since I've heard this come up before? Where he slandered some other idol as well and got into a controversial situation. Whichever way it is, lets all agree that he should have watched his mouth a little better and in the future hope that he doesn't repeat the incident. At the same time, however much he might have insulted someone/ two people, it is not alright to send in death threats or hate for a mistake.

Guys, lets leave it at that. I'm afraid if topics become to controversial, it will no longer be child friendly and suitable for Cs so lets leave it here. No more discussions about death threats please.
