If we do make a rat roleplay it shouldn't be anything cliche at all, tbh?
If we want to entice people to join we should create a interesting and inviting plot line.
This means we have to be as unique in what we do.
I personally say we start out as maybe just house rats/fancy rats that meet a wild one or two in character that may have taken up residency in the house (I kind of would like to play as the wild rat tbh too).
The plot could be just maybe the house rats interacting with maybe the one or two wild rats until maybe the house rats has to choose if they want to stay domesticated or go feral. It's a simple thing but if we expand on it it could be a nice roleplay.

Actually, I quite like the sound of that idea. It sounds a little more plausible and interesting then having a handful of pet rats being dumped in the middle of a city somewhere or getting lost, something which I've seen too many times with rodent roleplays.
To add onto that idea, what if there were two rival colonies of wild rats living in the house? Maybe one colony could dislike the pet rats whilst the other likes them? Or maybe the entire wild population could simply want the pet rats to add to their numbers and/or to use them to get them things, like extra food, etc
idk, just throwing that out there X3

Maybe.
What about the two or three rats I mentioned be like, "spies" sent to try and befriend the domestics? But maybe they actually begin to like them and are like, "well no. This colony is terrible." and they do help them escape, but they try to escape the colony as well as their pish posh lives?

Again, that's a good idea... until it turns out that one of these 'good spy' rats is a double-crosser X3
What if the wild colony was trying to befriend the pet rats only to force them to do the 'dirty work' for them? Like have them do all the foraging and nest-cleaning, etc, and because the pets have no concept of how wild colonies work they just do as their told because they don't know any better? And maybe to prove this the wild colony could already have some pet rats that they have previously integrated into the pack who are miserable and know better?
