The surgery went faster than expected. Compared to the condition of the original TANDEM when they were first brought in, Isam's broken back was an easy fix. Technology have improved. Dr. Renard attached a bionic brace to the subject's spinal column, strengthening it and ensuring that no further damage would occur. But of course, he couldn't stop there. If this subject was to be a new TANDEM, he would need more than a strong back.

Dr. Renard hated to remove a perfectly good limb, it seemed like such a waste. But he assured himself that the replacement would be better. The subject's right arm was replaced with a bionic arm, a new model with all the bells and whistles. Making the augmentations adjustable to the subject's canine form was the true challenge, but Dr. Renard was able to compensate for it fairly easily. The subject would be able to shift, and the technology would shift with him.

Some dental work was a last minute idea. If the subject was going to be the hard hitter of the two, his bite had to be as good as his bark. Titanium canine teeth were implanted to replace the old ones, ensuring that the subject's teeth wouldn't be ripped out if he bite the wrong thing.

The last modification was inside the subject's brain. Dr. Renard had to open his head up to instal the HIVEMIND augmentation. This required him to shave the subjects...unruly hairstyle choice, leaving a strip of hair down the center to hide the opening cut and stitching, much like the style of the previous TANDEMs. He installed a right ocular implant in the color orange, to differentiate from the original TANDEMs' blue glow.

The subject's mind was reprogrammed to behave like the original TANDEM. He would be obedient, free of emotional connections, and loyal to his creator. However, a bit of foresight made Dr. Renard install an off-switch. The only reason he was using this creature was due to Grace's insistence that his 'mate' would protest if he died. The doctor assumed that the same protest would be given if he was turned completely into a mindless minion.

The activation switch allow Dr. Renard to gain control of T3 whenever he needed, but allow the subject to think freely while it was off. It was complicated system, but Dr. Renard had high hopes that it would work.

After a long, tedious surgery, T3 was finally complete. Dr. Renard called a couple interns to come up and wheel the subject to the medical ward to be cleaned up and held until he slept off the anesthesia. He expected that the subject's initial reaction to his new and improved body would be shock. It was best to have the nurses close by if that was to be the case.

Alisa was definitely in bad shape, so the first thing Serena wanted to do was check the baby. She headed to the back and shuffled around through the cabinets until she found the ultrasound machine, hooking it up to a monitor and raising Alisa's shirt. She gently placed the monitor over her abdomen, looking up at the screen as she examined the fetus. Oh no, no no no. This was not good. A sudden dizziness blurred Serena's mind and she looked as if she might fall over for a moment. The baby was in distress with the umbilical cord wrapped around its neck. If she couldn't get the baby to turn she would have to perform an emergency cesarean section and it was still early on in the pregnancy, so early that the baby might not survive. Not to mention it would take a huge toll on the already greatly damaged Alisa as well. Serena kept her expression blank and tried to stay calm, but she felt as if everyone in the room could hear her pounding heartbeat.

Blake's words echoed in her mind. 'She's important to the lab...They might kill me..' No, it wasn't Alisa who was important to the lab. It was the fetus. Serena quickly weighed the pros and cons of her options. Allow the fetus to die resulting in punishment for Blake, or try to save it and risk Alisa's life. If she tried to save the fetus there was a chance she could save all three, but if she didn't then the baby would surely die and Blake would surely be punished. Worst case scenario of saving the baby would result in Alisa's death, the baby's death, AND Blake being punished. Saving the baby had both the best and worst possible outcomes. Now she thought about the differences between the two options. Alisa and the baby were both at risk either way, the only significant difference circled around Blake. If she let the fetus die, there was probably no way she could protect him from punishment. If she was able to save the baby, it was highly unlikely Blake would suffer for it. There really wasn't enough time for Serena to thoroughly debate her options. She had to make a decision, and she had to make one fast. The thoughts whirled around her head. It felt like she pondered for hours, but in reality she took less than two minutes to make her decision. Removing all emotion from her expression, she reminded herself that she was a doctor and this was just another patient, another part of her job. She had to distance herself emotionally to maintain herself with what she was about to do.

And with that, Serena grabbed the curtain hanging from the ceiling and pulled it around the cot. She took a deep breath and went into the back room, changing into scrubs and filling a syringe to inject Alisa with and make sure she remained unconscious throughout the surgery. She came back out not a moment later, wheeling a table of surgical tools behind the curtain with Alisa. Once the injection was made, Serena traced along Alisa's abdomen with her finger, preparing for the incision.

Alex frowned when Serena moved her fingers from his hair and ignoring his questions. He let out another yawn and listened to everyone in the room speak. He wasn't focusing on what ther where saying, he was just comforted by their voices. Closing his eyes he carefully tested his arm on his stomach, his broken arm resting on the cot. His ribs still hurt but that could wait, obviously something more important came up since Serena had left him. He didn't mind, the person she was helping was probably more important than him, was crucial to the lab. Alex yawned once again and closed his eyes. He could hear something moving along the floor then a curtain moving. Not long after did he heard anothe get thing going across the floor, small sounds of metal clinking together.

"Super soldiers?..." This wasn't good. Not only was Ash a pacifist, but he couldn't hurt strangers to save his life, even if the strangers were trying to hurt him. At the scientist's command to sit, Ash sat in the chair. Ash nodded when Dr. Sutton said this wouldn't get him out of training. "Yes, I know..." he sighed.

Sasha ceased growling at Kurtis in case they were close enough to Dakota for him to hear. Slightly snarling at Kurtis, she muttered, "Idiot." Before waiting for a response, she took a deep inhalation of air to relocate the trail and continued on her way towards Dakota. She planned on actually capturing him now. She soon was within 15 meters of him, watching him from less than fifty feet away. Crouching behind a tumble of boulders in Dakota's path, she patiently waited for the right moment to pounce.
