Oddfoot leaned over to his Clanmate, touching his nose to her forehead. Eyes glowing brightly, even though they were closed. "From this day forward, you will be known as Mottledstar." He mewed simply, stepping back with a small, reluctant bow to his new leader.

Realising that Oddfoot didn't know the proper ceremony, Okapicloud stepped forward from where she stood beside the medicine cat. "The Glowing Ones have spoken! Let it be heard by all!" She cast a slightly annoyed look at Oddfoot. He should have told me that he didn't know the ceremony! Getting the ceremony wrong was no big deal, medicine cats had been known to use their own versions in the past. But Okapicloud knew the older cats like Petrichorwhisper and Cragwhisker would have noticed, as they'd been there for Stripestar's ceremony, that it was not Oddfoot's mentor's version that he had spoken. Such little details did not usually bother her.

"Mottledstar! Mottledstar!" Inkpaw called.

"Mottledstar! Mottledstar!" Petrichorwhisper and Tigersky joined in.

Mottledstar noticed the ceremony slip up, but Okapicloud had corrected it, so it was no longer an issue. She smiled down at her clan, of which they chanted her new name. She felt nothing but joy.

Palekit yowled his mother's new name out loud, wanting everyone to hear. He felt like he was going to explode from happiness and bliss.

Stonekit softly spoke her mom's new name out loud. She wasn't really sure how to feel, but she guessed happy, for Mottledstar.

"Mottledstar! Mottledstar!" Oddfoot cheered with as much energy as he could muster up. After a few heartbeats, he turned around and gracefully leaped down from his place over the camp, slinking back to his den to clean his fur and get back to work.

Okapicloud joined in. Once the chanting had died down she turned to Mottledstar. "Come, you must now visit the Color Pool," she told the new leader.

Inkpaw followed his brother. "You didn't seem pleased that Mottledstar was chosen," he meowed. Now was not the time to tell Oddfoot he'd been eavesdropping.

Oddfoot looked at his younger brother. "Really?" He asked, sounding a bit offended, coking his head. "Oh, I hope she didn't notice that. I'll apologize to her when she gets back from the Color Pool." Putting on a toothy grin, the small tom patted his little brother on the head. "Thanks lil brother!" He mewed, pushing into his den to get back to work.

Inkpaw huffed in annoyance. He rolled his eyes and murmured, "Medicine cats are weird," before seeking out the freshkill pile.

Oddfoot shrugged, though he knew his brother couldn't see him. "I heard that!" The odd-eyed cat called, though he didn't sound mad at all. With a flick of his tail, he when back to sorting his herbs, which were on piles all over his den.
