1) Does Tess look over every single application?
2) Do people help her?
3) Who helps her?
This should explain it:
Atwood wrote:rye-bread wrote:if you applied for a position, how does/do tess/the selectors go through the elimination process?
and at some point, do they go through the all of your posts all the way to the beginning, or just some of them?
First the staff goes through all the applications individually and we each make our own lists of which ones stood out to us (either through the application itself or having already noted the person to be a good potential staff member). From there, we winnow down our own lists based on the applications and the person's posts, history and general character around the forum. Once we've got our individual lists, we nominate our top picks to the rest of the staff, check out the applications of the people other staff members have suggested and give our support to the ones we feel would be the strongest additions to the team with our reasons behind those choices. Tess then goes over that thread and considers our nominees as well as any others she personally selected, comes up with her final list and contacts those people to offer them the job. ^^

So I see why the whole warning thing applies, but some of the best people are the people who have made mistakes, because they have learned more through mistakes. So couldn't this rule be unfair to some extent? Like if someone made a mean remark about someone, they got warned, and never did anything like that again. They know what a mean remark that was, so they can point out someone if they do it. Couldn't this be seen as unfair? I would like a response regarding why it is perfectly fair, id just like to understand better. I don't want to start a discussion, but you can PM me.
We are seeking users that have not had a history of getting into any trouble. Unless the warning was minor or happened a long time ago, it is likely that someone with a warning for something like that may be overlooked.

We look through all eligible applicants that meet the requirements listed on the information page. The staff assist Tess and Nick in picking.

Let's say I posted a picture that I didn't realize had an inappropriate word in the corner, or something like that, and I got warned for it, but it was the only warning I'd ever gotten. Would the staff be able to tell that it was an honest mistake?

Staff are only removed if they step down from their position or are inactive for a long time.
I've seen a few general helpers who are very inactive. Is this why Tess is putting up new applications? (You don't need to answer if the mods are not allowed to, or something)

We have had many GH step down over the past few months, and the GH who have been extremely inactive will be removed.
Dogs101423 wrote:How many people are chosen for the positions? And how long does it usually take before we know who gets the jobs?
It is usually between 5-10 GH and 1-4 of each type of Moderator, although we can't be certain until they're picked. :3 It usually takes a few weeks for all applications to be read through and for the staff to come to a final decision, but this time varies based on how many people apply.

Yes, this would be a minor warning. If you want to be a staff member then it's in your best interest to have 0 warnings for things like bullying, and generally bad forum behavior. If you get angry easily, and lash out at others then you're not really someone we want dealing with certain moderating situations.
