First Trick
A little white pony galloped madly along the plains, a small boy crouched on her back. His face was red and puffy, and his breath came in hard gasps. A black bruise was beginning to form around his right eye, and upon closer inspection you could see that his lip was swollen. He was in his school clothes, but his hair rain wild with the wind. A whirlwind of emotions ran through his mind, fear, confusion, anger, excitement, but mostly sadness. There was a determined set to his jaw, and his purple eyes held a feirce glint. Zack only slowed his pony down when they reached the wood line that marked the elfland boundaries. He walked her among the trees, searching for the path that led to the elf Farinn's home. He reached the farm quickly, dusk hiding his movements as he slipped off the pony's back and over to the corrals where the elf kept his Narakari for the tournament. His eyes softened as he neared the gate and saw the rose red stallion within, scars lining his chest and back. "I'm sorry Farinn." He whispered as he swung the gate open. The scarred stallion swung his head around at the noise, and trotted towards the gap. When he realized the gate was open, the wild stallion kicked up his heels and galloped off into the forest.
Zack closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm his shaking body. Head low, he shuffled back to his pony, climbing stiffly onto her back and trotting her home. "Maybe now it will be over." The words were soft on his lips, but heavy in the 10 year olds heart.
Simmarrah was waiting for him on the front stoop, a scowl on her normally bright features. "What the hell Zack? Do you realize how late it is! It's almost midnight! You were supposed to be home hours ago." The rant continued, until he stepped into the light and she got a good look at his face. His sister knelt, he expression as soft as her voice. "Who was it and what was the reason?" Zack sighed and looked her dead in the face:she knew him too well. "It was just some boys at school. No big deal." She gently brushed his cheek, which was still swollen, and chuckled softly. "Yeah, no big deal.zack. Cmon inside and we will figure things out."
It didn't take long for her to get him to spill the details. How the boys had been teasing him and her over Sams current ranking in the competition, how he had stood up for his family and their small farm, even though it was just the two of them. Then came the fight, and the punishment dare along with blackmail. He wouldn't tell her what the boys had on him, but it was bad for him to follow through with the task. "They told me I had to release the Elf's Narakari, I don't know why they wanted his to disappear."
"Hmmm..maybe one of them had a previous grudge against the elf or his kind? Either way it doesn't matter now. You do realize you are grounded for doing this without coming to me first. Go on up to bed. I'll think of the punishment later." She shook her head as he tumbled up the stairs. "What am I going to do with that boy?" It took only an hour to take up her own Narakari and travel to the Elfs home to tell him what happened and offer her help to find and catch the stallion.

dare to try to delete a mistake the iPad will lock up and erase everything I have written. Some kind of glitch that has been part of the original operating system.

anyways it holds true for anything I write. I do my best.******
