"Just me and Orchardkit. We were running through the woods and a rogue she cat named Midnight dug her claws into me shoulders." he sighed, holding his shoulder lightly.

She pressed her nose to his ear. Let's tell her everything. She whispered.

"What were you two doing out in the woods by yourselves?" Rainstar asked sternly. "You know kits are supposed to stay in camp - er well, you do Orchardkit. Coalkit is new so he has an excuse I suppose. Regardless, you two are lucky your wounds aren't more serious."

"Never in a million years." he whispered back, lightly nudging her cheek. He looked at Rainstar and nodded "Still hurts, though."

"Well yes, even the smallest thorn can cause a significant amount of pain. My point being that they should heal quickly and with minimum scarring." Rainstar shook her head. "But again I ask, what possessed you two to go gallivanting in the woods alone?" She lashed her tail in frustration and growled mostly to herself, "We've been slacking on patrols and the rogues have grown complacent." There was a momentary pause as a thought struck her and her green eyes widened as she focused her attention back on the kits, "Wait, were you two still in our territory when they attacked you?"

He preferred not to answer her other questions as he nodded "We were."

More reasons started flooding her mind and she cried bitting her lip and closing her eyes tight. She put her head under Coalkit's chin and whispered. "There's more to it Coalkit..."

He licked her nose and hugged her "What?" he whispered back.

She purred very quietly. Coalkit liked someone. She stopped purring when Orcharkit started crying.

Rainstar closed her eyes, knitting her brows together. "That's what I was afraid of." They sat in silence for a moment and she opened them curiously when she heard small whispers and soft sobs. Choosing to ignore it for the moment she continued questioning, "They came from the west I assume?" The grey tabby wished to confirm her suspicions before sending a couple of patrols out. MarshClan had had some skirmishes with rogues from the west in the past -and not for a long while at that- but they had never been so bold as to take kits.

She hissed "They tried to take the kits and they will pay." flame shone in her eyes.
