i have missed so much oml, here's me playing catch up. ketchup. hehe.
are you open about your roleplaying to friends/family/etc?
believe it or not? yes. my family members and close friends are all aware
that i am a total nerd and spend my life coding/writing/reading. whether
they support my choice to spend 24/7 on my computer with you lovely
people is their own business that i personally don't care to hear.
who or what inspired you to start improving your writing skills and
how much you write?
myself. i'll flat out say it, i'm a perfectionist and when i find something i
really like i hone that crap. i personally believe that as good as someone
can be at something, there is always room for improvement. that being
said, my drive to "improve" always pushes me to step out of my comfort
zone and do bigger and better things.
do you ever code/write something you just become so proud of that
you sorta stare/read in awe for awhile?
ummm, yeah. considering i'm extremely self-critical and often times find
myself underestimating my abilities, when something comes out better
than expected i... i go a little nuts. that new accomplishment becomes
my baby.
what would you do if you accepted someone and then realized their form
was stolen? what do you do when you see a stolen form in someone else's
storage thread etc?
i'd probably ask the person about it and give them a chance to confess/
apologize to the person they'd stolen from. of course if they don't comply
or anything i'll get the true owner of the coding involved and let them
handle it.
what would you do if you joined a roleplay and the owner/another
member stole your form?
world war three. as said above i'd give them the chance to confess and/or
apologize. if they wanna be a butt about it then we've got a problem.
[ link to your absolute favorite piece of writing/coding/etc done by
yourself] why does it mean so much to you?
this little guy here is probably my favorite character i've ever made. he's just
so different from the way i normally make my characters and hey, i'm pretty
proud of the coding work too.
[ link to someone else's piece of writing/coding that is also one of your
favorites] what stands out the most?
this storage in general. so maybe not what was meant by the question, but
as of late i find myself drooling over ari's amaze-balls coding. whether she
thinks so or not the way she makes everything fit together so well is just
amazing <3
now i have some questions of my own even though i've just spent a solid 30
minutes answering all of those...
- Code: Select all
how did you figure out you loved to write/code?
long story short, i was such a major bookworm when i was little still am and
what i read just sort of inspired me. i saw what these authors could do and
the impact it had on others... i just felt like i'd finally found my own voice
without having to get up in front of people and talk. the thought of being
able to affect people emotionally and give them something to get lost in for
even just a little bit really got to me.
- Code: Select all
what's your favorite roleplay you've ever took part in?
this bad boy, kept alive by the amazing charmey. it had initially been a silly
group roleplay with not much expectation, but as time went on the four of
us just kinda fell in love with it. our characters were unique, the storyline
was unique. it was just a fun way for us to hang out and write together. <3

i still have to post the second chapter for that. it's done but im soooo lazy.
[ link to someone else's piece of writing/coding that is also one of your favorites] what stands out the most?
okay, so for coding, ari's remi is my actually favorite thing in the entire world.
it's just so very nice. i honestly cannot explain why, but just omg.
also foster the people man. pfft.
as for writing, i also really like swindle, and rose's shiver, but holy jesus i think i fell in love with type's 100 scene challenge?
[ link to your absolute favorite piece of writing/coding/etc done by yourself] why does it mean so much to you?
i'm not such a big fan of my coding but my favorite piece i've written is this from my challenge thread.
how did you figure out you loved to write/code?
i actually had an in school assignment in eighth grade where we had to write a short story and i fell in love with writing. c':
what's your favorite roleplay you've ever took part in?

@type.; THIS 100 SCENES THING IS SO CREATIVE AND LIKE WUT???????? how are ppl so creative with writing and all of this??
[link to someone else's piece of writing/coding that is also one of your favorites] what stands out the most?
thor has always been amazing like everything, she's great like omg. but my favorite coding of like all time has to be this bc is makes me wanna like cry, and also try to be better c':
[ link to your absolute favorite piece of writing/coding/etc done by yourself] why does it mean so much to you?
i think my favorite (what switches everytime i make a new character) has to be this bad boy. mainly bc it's the first thing i've coded since january basically
are you open about your roleplaying to friends/family/etc?
i probs wouldn't have friends if people knew how addicted i was to this website
do you ever code/write something you just become so proud of that you sorta stare/read in awe for awhile?
everyone should be proud of what they have written or like coded, like even if you think it's 1/10 you still like took time on it and tried and like it's great. like idk about everyone else, but when i look at coding i just finished i'm gonna look back at it and go 'aw yeah'. bc coding makes me happy and i've improved a lot and i'm not just going to think i suck. like idk how cocky i sound, but i'm proud of myself and i think everyone else should be proud of themselves because you start somewhere. (like i have no idea where i'm even going with that so yolooo)

woodland's whole thread is my main source of inspiration for everything. like honestly just everything that she posts is so beautiful and just somehow it all fits together and looks perfect <3 She also has her "own style" feel to everything and it just feels so unique. give me ur talent plz woodland
[ link to your absolute favorite piece of writing/coding/etc done by yourself] why does it mean so much to you?
well, this is one of my most recent posts but it was one of the most complicated to put together. it's also the first time i've felt that i've really made something that'd i'd be more than happy to repeat with others. unfortunately now i got to get out of that muck because all of them are starting to look like the exact same thing lol.
how did you figure out you loved to write/code?
i actually learned this quite a whole ago. i did a small programming class in school and then i started on another rping forum that used BBC coding. as for writing, i've adored writing since i was little. my father has always had a love for writing and i guess it just sort of transferred to me. i wrote a little "novel" when i was eight with little illustrations to match and i guess it just stuck.
what's your favorite roleplay you've ever took part in?
right now it's this one x one with arrow. the two have just such a sweet chemistry and the work completely perf// feels to the max with this one.

oh my gosh there's so many questions about linking to role-plays/writing and such and i can't participate since it's all on as now ;o; oh well
and glassy! ^o^ hello
how did you figure out you loved to write/code?
i loved to read. a lot in 4th grade especially. around 5th-6th grade, i got really bored on a site called foopets and random people would keep messaging me to join a rp but i never did. i started browsing the forums and saw that the role-play forum had the most amount of posts, so i joined and eventually made my own XDD ever since i have loved writing so much.

hey there! i'm abandoned. you might see me more commonly
referred to as 'pie' though. i adore rping, writing and reading.
however, i do not actively rp here anymore. i am on AS, under
the username forlorn. if you want to rp, shoot me a pm!
or even just to chat, i love meeting new people.

munchkin cat. wrote:I have a question c: [ If it hasn't already been asked xc ]
Where do you find quotes/sayings for your forms? Do songs help? Books?
I usually just listen to a lot of songs and when a specific lyric sticks with me I'm always thinking "Now how can I use that in something" or sometimes even poetry, haha though one or two I found in a fortune cookie, I've just yet to use them cx

bare with me, guys. this is all just thorne trying to catch up with the action.
by the way, welcome new guys to our humble thread. cx
@charmey & @spiff there was a pretty big difference between the post preview and the actual posts before, but rest assured, mint had recently fixed the problem. the old forms and such are kinda screwy now, but she made the post size more similar to that of chickensmoothie, so it'll be easier for coding and everyone can transfer stuff from here to there if they wish. hopefully a more updated forgotten toys can be up and fully functioning in no time.
do you ever code/write something you just become so proud of that you sorta stare/read in awe for awhile?
this is me with some of my older writing posts. it makes me feel a bit vain because i'm rereading stuff that i write over and over and over again, but i feel as if it does kinda help me when i'm at a loss muse-wise. kinda like how i am at this exact moment. like whenever i can't really figure out a good way to start a new post, i'd read over at my old ones for some sort of inspiration.
ailuric wrote:have you guys ever seen a stolen form where the user has changed the image so it's too small / big for the format? it messes the whole thing up and they look incompetent.. and secretly you're thinking "serves them right"?
oh my god. can i just say how much i adore this right here? like ailuric, we are connected because that is my way of thinking almost everytime i see someone stealing one of my [or anyone else's] forms. it's usually because i spend a lot of time to make most of my forms so that the veer and image lengths work specifically for certain characters. and i can't even start feeling bad about it since they were the ones that stole the form in the first place. it definitely does serve them right. xD
[ link to your absolute favorite piece of writing/coding/etc done by yourself] why does it mean so much to you?
calibar. oh gosh he's so old, i don't even think anyone remembers when i used him, or if i'd even used him for anything. but he does have a small piece of my heart [well, so does my other characters, but he gets a slightly larger piece]. that's because honestly, his form was where i genuinely found my love for coding and trying new things and mixing up symbols and veer and whatnot. i really don't know what happened, but i think his form was kind of the turning point where i'd finally decided to start doing my own thing and develop my own style. and it's so different from the stuff that i have today, but it's still my all-time favorite piece in my portfolio.
[ link to someone else's piece of writing/coding that is also one of your favorites] what stands out the most?
well, boy, there are so many of them that i absolutely adore. liam by the fabulous morris, because it's so neat. i love love love morris's style and this one in particular just clicks and fits into all the right spots and i also love ash stymest, so what's there not to love? lol
how did you figure out you loved to write/code?
honestly, i don't know. lol and it might be because my memory is completely crap. all i can recall is that i hated writing and had absolutely no idea how to work the buttons on the top of the text posts. i think that it was just a gradual thing that changed over the course of my roleplaying/coding experience. the more i did it, the more i started to appreciated it and eventually it grew into a beloved hobby.
what's your favorite roleplay you've ever took part in?
i really enjoyed blackout by the awesome shasta blue. it took place a long while back, but the plot was absolutely amazeballs and i remembered having such a blast with the planning of the roleplay. ugh, those was gooooood times.
where do you find quotes/sayings for your forms? do songs help? books?
definitely songs, purely because there are so many to choose from and it's easier to find the perfect one for your character. usually, i'd pick a song and play it on repeat as i code for the character, just to get myself in the mood and make it easier to fully formulate the ideal image of said character.
holy smokes! this is longggggg, but there are a few more things that i just have to do bc i want to and they totally and utterly deserve it:
i want to nominate someone!
username: morris.
profile: link
user's posts: link
award applying for: roleplaying: advanced
supporting evidence: this roleplay, because even if she never got around to finishing/starting it, the plot is her original idea. like she came up with it all in her head! and also this roleplay, and this roleplay and her post on that roleplay.
references: literally anyone and everyone who have ever joined her radical rps or have rped with her; ie. aurie, deffs, wally, ectera.
in my opinion.... i know that she's not quite as active right now as she had been before but i have to nominate her for this award because morris really goes above and beyond in this subject. first of all, she is literally the queen of making roleplays. i really don't know a single person who have made as many roleplays as her, and i honestly find myself wondering how the hell she pulls all of these ideas out of her own head when i can't even come up with one. her originality is utterly sublime and don't even get me started on her writing.

why this should go on the wall because just look at it! and quite literally all the other forms on her thread [tbh i had a really hard time choosing lol]. her color palette is fantastic and she can always find the best, and most relevant, detailing little pictures to add to her forms in order to make them pop. i give this piece an a++++++++
