Sunstar nodded, then he turned and motioned with his tail to the center of the stone clearing. He leaped up onto the highstones. "May all gather to hear my words!" He called, his voice echoing over the stones. He looked down and waited for the cats to gather. "Today we have two young cats who wish to join LakeClan. Singe and Soul, do you wish to take on the responsibilities and become apprentices?" He asked.

Soul: She nodded in sync with Singe. "I do."

Singe: She nodded and waited for Soul to say it first, then she said, "I do too!"

Sunstar nodded. "Then from this day forward, Singe, your name is now Singepaw and Firetail will be your mentor." He paused of a moment. "Soul, your name is now Soulpaw, and I will mentor you." He said and leaped down from the highstones to touch noses with Soulpaw.

Rivermist and Blizzardwind cheered with the other cats.

Soul: A surge of excitement went through her as Sunstar touched noses with her. The leader will be mentoring me? Wow.

Singe: She looked across the clan. I wonder which one is Firetail..

He yowls the new apprentices' names as thought ran through his head. Wow.. Sunstar is mentoring Soulpaw. he thinks as he cheers.

I cheered for the apprentices. Ooh, so now Sunstar was mentoring an apprentice. Then I shook my head. Not worth getting upset about. At all.

Sunstar let the cheers die down and he leaped back onto the highstones. "Now... There is something else that needs to be taken care of. Stonepaw, step forward." He paused. "I, Sunstar, leader of LakeClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn." He paused again before going on. "Stonepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life? " He asked, then looked down at him, waiting for an answer.

Stonepaw smiled as his leader said these words,"I promise." His tail twitched excitedly. His eyes twinkled with appreciation as he said his promise. He couldn't believe this day was here.
