actually it is only restricting because there are some very bad people on the internet, animal jam used to be very loose with their chat as they let us use various symbols. remember this is back in the old days when there really wasn't many people and animal jam was actually fully aimed at younger kids (not to say that it isn't now) but after lots of people joined and started pushing the boundaries on what was expected of them to say animal jam had to tighten up their chat restrictions to stop people from getting bullied, offended and so on.

This white and pink arctic wolf thought my arctic wolf was a male, since you can't normally see the eyes under the Top-hat. She said, "OMG A DUDE MARRY ME PLS PLZ PLS", And I thought, 'Im a Girl...' And I said, "No thanks," But she flipped out, Until I gave a 30 second explinaton of why not, and I also had taken the top-hat off. But she flipped out again, And Said, "MY DAD IS THE MAKER OF AJ YOU JE, RK!" I cannot believe jammers these days, I mean, Seriously.
