shellstar, originally shellclaw, leader of SunClan. she was named for the sea (which she has never seen) and her claws (which she has never liked), born to a mother who didn't recognize her talents and a mentor who developed the ones she didn't want.
black-furred and green-eyed, shellstar has a sort of faint beauty, but this is overshadowed by her lithe movements. she is a walking killer, and one glance is enough to know she's dangerous. shellstar is twenty-and-nine moons of age, and is of average height and build for a she-cat.
shellstar is a quiet leader, choosing to stay in her den and relay orders through her deputy rather than face her clan head-on. she prefers to be a solitary cat, which is why she was so surprised when the previous leader named her deputy. that rank gave her a few skills to deal with crowds, but she's always been jittery and prone to second-guessing herself when no-one is looking. her clan, however, would never see her this way - the shellstar that the public knows is a wise, ironclad she-cat; born with nerves of steel and no tolerance for messing around or goofing off.
on the battlefield she is a thing to behold, gifted with agility and a modicum of strength she is feared and famed across the clans as someone you don't want to shed blood with. shellstar appreciates this infamy and does her best to propagate it, the rumors save her clanmates and give her enemies reason enough to fear her.
still, there is a little of the girl she once was left in the core of the leader. she yearns for friendship, for someone to get close to- she may never be able to share her deepest secrets, but she would like to know theirs.
shellstar has no surviving family, no mate, and no kits.

ternpaw, eventually to be named ternfeather, is a mostly white she-cat with eyes like deep grey pools. her fur is patched with a lighter grey in some spots, the biggest patch being on her right side over her ribs.
ternpaw is 10 moons old. she is of an average build with a taller height for her age, and shows no outstanding talent in hunting or fighting.
she is mediocre in everything she attempts.
however, ternpaw is a highly intelligent cat. she knows she isn't any good at fighting, and only has passable skill at hunting - these facts do not bother her at all. instead, she loves and uses training time to get to know her fellow clanmates better, and somehow manages to impress her mentor even when she does poorly.
she is very polite and tries her best to diffuse conflict when it arises, she is a voice of reason when hotter tempers flare. as an apprentice she gets precious little sleep, so the only time she's really angry is when someone wakes her up from a much-needed nap in the apprentice's den.
whenever she gets free time she spends it at the nursery, watching the kits play and sometimes joining in on their games. she loves kits, and giving the queens a break is something she's happy to do.
ternpaw longs for the day when she is a warrior and can have a mate and kits of her own - for her, that's her life goal. cliché, she knows, but she wants a family just the same.
currently ternpaw is being mentored by _______, has no crush, no mate, and no kits.

smokefur, the young warrior. he is headstrong and stubborn; with his flashing, rich golden eyes and soft, thick fur he is often considered handsome - not that he has the want nor will to pursue a relationship.
this tomcat is desperate to look good in front of his peers, to be the best warrior he can be, to show the clan that he is not someone to simply fade into the background - lookout world, smokefur's here! he has plans and dreams and ambitions, and seeks to help those who cannot for themselves.
smokefur follows the warrior code as best he can, and he has a deeply-rooted belief in StarClan. the quiet of the ancestors has upset his careful routine, and although he projects an outward sense of charisma and tenacious optimism, inside he is rolling with turmoil over the quiet.
smokefur is roughly twenty three moons of age, and is one of the youngest warriors. he has never had an apprentice but hopes to mentor one soon. kits scare him to death, he thinks of them as too fragile a creature for a cat who excelled at sparring to be around. he adores the apprentices and has a soft spot for the most promising among them, seeking to become someone that they look up to.
born as the second kit in a litter of three, both of smokefur's parents became elders and passed away peacefully in their sleep.
of his siblings, both died in battle many moons ago. the loss does not trouble him as much as it once was, and he used to be able to commune with them in his dreams.
now, though, they are uncharastically silent.
