That's what I would guess. I don't think it's possible for something like that to happen in an official game; it was probably a bootleg or something.

I have a little dilemma I need help with. I'm making a Hoenn Region RP, and I've decided to triple the amount of Gyms needed to enter the Pokemon League. Since there's only so many types, and ideas for Gyms? Perhaps battle type specific or specific challenges? I'm not sure myself.

2 things
1, I've got a new Pokemon RP if anyone wants to join
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2723849

2, does anyone know if high affection can cause a Pokemon to 'tough it out'? I'm watching this OR/AS Battle Video(Non-Canon, it's against Red) And one of the player's Pokemon was about to faint, and when it got his by the move that would have done it, a text box with "Kyros toughed it out to show its best side to Mixeli!" and then a little heart floated over its head. Afterwards, in the next decision phase, it said "Kyros is in a bit of a pinch. It looks like it might cry..." Is that real or is it more likely something the creator put in?

I think it depends on nature cause when my Zekrom was almost dead it said
"Zekrom whined~" and then a heart floated. That is what i believe it said. Anyway, when you are close with a pokemon it can say things like "____ was so in sync with ____ it wished it landed a critical hit". So i guess it could happen.

Yes, those have to do with the Pokémon-Amie affection level. Once the level is high enough, the Pokemon will start being able to occasionally endure attacks that would otherwise knock it out, as well as being able to evade enemy attacks, "shake off" status conditions, and certain other benefits.

I believe the endurance thing, as well as landing criticals more often and dodging attacks only happens when you max your hearts in amie :u
It didn't start happening with Equius until I got him to all 5 hearts.
You can also pet your pokemon when they KO a pokemon at 5 amie hearts yes

It doesn't necessarily have to be maxed out. I believe the Pokemon gets an experience bonus starting at 2 hearts, and from there on it gains additional benefits with each new heart, although I'm not sure exactly which benefit starts when.

Edit - According to Bulbapedia:

A Pokémon with high levels of affection will gain certain bonuses in battle and will interact with its Trainer in unique ways.

At affection level 2 and higher, a Pokémon will gain 1.2 times the normal experience from battles.

At affection level 3 and higher, a Pokémon may endure attacks that could otherwise make it faint and survive with 1 HP (including confusion damage). This can activate multiple times per turn.

At affection level 4 and higher, a Pokémon can sometimes:

    - Avoid attacks, even when they have 100% accuracy. This can activate multiple times per turn.
    - Shake off status conditions at the end of the turn.

At affection level 5 and higher, a Pokémon can sometimes:

    - Have higher chance of critical hits.

An affection level of 2 or higher is also a prerequisite to evolve Eevee into Sylveon. The other requirement is that Eevee must know a Fairy-type move when it levels up (this includes learning it as a result of leveling up).

There are some cases where Pokémon do not get their affection bonuses, however. If a Pokémon Mega Evolves, it will not gain any affection benefits while it is in its Mega-Evolved state, nor can it be petted following the defeat or capture of an opposing Pokémon. More broadly, battles conducted over wireless or online play, or at the Battle Maison or Battle Institute, do not incorporate any affection benefits. If a Pokémon is asleep when the opponent faints, the ability to pet it afterwards will be disabled, but all other effects remain in place.
