I know how to get her to trust me!
I walk into the alley where I had seen the pregnant cat earlier. With me, I had brought a bag of cat food. I poured some of it near where I had seen her nesting, then sat down a few yards away and waited. I didn't have to wait too long before I saw a nose stick out of the make-shift den. I knew this cat would be extra cautious since she had her unborn kits to protect, so I sat perfectly still as she slowly padded out of the den. Her nose worked furiously at the smell of food. She slowly followed the scent then suddenly froze. She had seen me. I didn't move, not one inch. She turned and ran back to her den. I sighed, but continued to wait. After what seemed like ages, she came out again. Her eyes never left me as she headed for th food. She was clearly hungry as she scarfed up the food. When she was done, I got up, careful to keep my movements slow and steady, and left. The next day I came and did the same thing. Everyday I did this, slowly sitting down closer and closer to the food. Until one day, I was sitting right next to it. When the cat came out to eat, I could have touched her, but I held back and simply watched her eat. When she was done, she looked up at me for a moment before running back to the den. I smiled. I did this for two more days and on the third. I decided to try and touch her. While she was eating, I carefully brought my hand down on her back. Before I could touch her, however, she gave a warning hiss. I took my hand away and she continued eating. Every day after that, I continued trying to touch her, until finally she allowed it.
