- Breed Characteristics:
The Silver Legacy Horse Association was created in the 1960s a few years after the breed was created. The Silver Legacy breed originates from the original T.V. series Lone Ranger’s horse Silver, and grew in roaring popularity a few years after the t.v. show was cancelled. Lone Ranger's Silver was retired, and put to stud. The gene pool mixed with many breeds such as the akhal teke, and Arabians and Saddlebreds, until finally, the Silver Legacy was created. The breed was created to have the long slim look of the Akhal-Teke, endurance of an Arabian, and the gait of Tennessee Walkers, and the look of a asaddlebred. They can come in natural colors with all sorts of markings; excluding the very rare brindles and chimerics. Though they are not strictly a gaited horse breed, the breed is often placed in gaited disciplines. The best in show horses can seen with tails that trail the ground, a parked pose, and a head held high.
Silver Legacy horses can stand between 15-17 hh, and depending on Sire, may not have a mane. Galaxy eyes are not uncommon, but the anomaly causes the horse to become blind at an older age.
