i joined like, wayyyyy back ( i don't even know if any of you guys remember me ), but here i am. uvu
what inspired you to first start roleplaying? like before everything, what was the one idea that brought you here today as a roleplayer?
welllllllllllllllllllll
i joined this rpg called feralheart ( oh, the memories ) in 2010 or something? and i guess that's how i started roleplaying. i joined cs for the roleplaying too, so.
idk where i'm going with this ;v;
what defines someone who is literate? is there a definition?
pfffttt
you could write a small paragraph and be considered literate in my book, as long as what you're writing is advanced in spelling, grammar, & has some elaborateness to it. literacy isn't just how much you write. would you rather have someone write five paragraphs of absolute gobbily-gook, riddled with spelling errors and atrocious grammar rather than a beautifully crafted few sentences?
idk, just my opinion. cx

@ bliss YOOOOO WELCOME BACK
what inspired you to first start roleplaying? like before everything, what was the one idea that brought you here today as a roleplayer?
i have just about no clue. chickensmoothie was the first online community i joined - i don't even remember how i found it - and the first site i started roleplaying on. i think it was that i wanted to work on my writing. i'd just finished my second nano novel and needed a project. thus, roleplaying happened.
what defines someone who is literate? is there a definition? (optional: do you prefer "literate" or "advanced")
?????? i mean there are so many different definitions of literate lol. length is a small part of it, in my opinion; a sentence isn't really going to cut it. other than that - i think it's mostly based on your writing ability. how you move the plot along, how you differentiate your characters from the stereotypical, etc... flowery language is definitely optional. [i've never considered myself literate or advanced, just semi-lit, so this probably biases my opinions for the rest of you actually literate folks.] anywho, i'd say that advanced is better. literate literally just means "able to read and write" while advanced means "far on or ahead in development or progress". i think we can agree that the second sounds a bit more accurate in describing the roleplaying community on the semi-lit+ boards. at the same time, literate is more entrenched in the lingo, and it rolls off the tongue more easily in quite a few occasion. "semi-lit" is grammatically pleasing; "semi-advanced" not so much. as a species we prefer convention [i.e. grammar] over accuracy anyways. i'm looking at you, historians who thought it was somehow appropriate to name it bayes, even though laplace did all the work while bayes did essentially nothing. haha i'm really salty about this thus, literate is more popular than advanced, but advanced is probably more accurate. i'm aware this isn't an answer to the question but hey i'm good at talking around this kind of thing
by the way i'll be remaking my old superhero roleplay nobody's sidekick w/ very little change to the plot. i wanna make it an invite-only this time, so let me know through pm [bc this isn't the purpose of the thread] if you want in!!

awwwh, i didn't see how nice all y'all were being here, thank ye so
much for the affirmation~ //feels a little better about the trainwre
ck that is my life right now
what inspired you to first start roleplaying? like before everything, what was the one idea that brought you here today as a roleplayer?
i was originally a writer and all (though i wasn't very good at all, at the time) and when i searched for
a picture of a 'hipster boy' for one of the stories i was writing (don't judge me ok you've been there)
i saw that the site it linked back to was called chicken smoothie. naturally i was intrigued, so i made
myself an account and kind of just threw myself into the swing of things for the hell of it. i was supe
r low-lit at the beginning, though, and the very first character i played was gray fullbuster from fairy
tail >.> it'd be less embarrassing if i were actually good at playing him OTL was that an answer to the
original question? not really, but it'll have to do
what defines someone who is literate? is there a definition? (optional: do you prefer "literate" or "advanced")
i believe that the legit dictionary definition of literate is a lot different from the roleplaying version,
because while you can be 'literate' per se, that doesn't always mean that you can write a lot or that y
ou bhave nice word choice, polished grammar and spelling, et cetera. i don't like to judge it on lengt
h as much as i like to judge it on quality, though i usually set a length limit just as kind of a "safety ne
t"??? as in, i want what you write to be interesting but i also don't want it to be unfulfillingly short, do
you feel me? advanced probably is more accurate but saying literate doesn't scare people as much, i th
ink. the word 'advanced' just feels a bit pretentious to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ no offence to those who prefer it

@crasher it looks super! <3 i love the titley thing.

at first, on a completely different account, many moons ago, i was really obsessed with warrior cats. some of my friends introduced me to the site and we all just joined each other's warrior cat roleplays. so, i guess those one liners littered with grammatical errors and numerous spelling mistakes were my first role play posts, inspired by my friends and erin hunter? then i grew out of the books, learned how to spell and started joining other rps/onexones. and years later here i am.
