Stallioncry got to his paws, yawing. "Mousedung! I slept in!" He stretched his back and padded outside. I had the strangest dream... Beartalon and my tails were curled together... For a second I thought it was real. Mother was right, maybe we do dream about the things we want. The tom shook out his slightly ruffled pelt. He caught sight of Beartalon and his whiskers grew hot. Stop it! You've got an apprentice to train and duties to do! There is no time for love in the life of a warrior! He gulped down a shrew and padded over to Bluepaw. "Ready for training?" he asked brightly. After having shaken his weird thoughts away and shoved the dream to the back of his mind, he had regained his usual energy.

Flightpaw was stretched out in a patch of sun, half asleep. (OPEN)

Redstar saw Stallioncry and Bluepaw. "Stallioncry, can you lead a hunting patrol? Take your apprentice and two other cats with you." He padded away, then saw Moonsong. "Good morning to you too, Moonsong. I'm doing mighty fine. How about you?"

Bluepaw had just finished the mouse when Stallioncry appeared. "Sure am! What're we doing today?" she replied quickly, when Redstar interrupted. "I guess I know now," she joked when he left with a smile, glancing at Songpaw and adding, "I'll talk to you later then."

Tallshadow sighed, padding back toward Songpaw and Bluepaw. He sat down rather close to Songpaw, their pelts bribing. He grinned at her. "I guess Blackpaw went on a hunting patrol," he said. "Which means I can spend time with you."

Falconheart shrugged. "I'm great. Been hunting all morning. What about you? I saw you speaking with Tallshadow early. You were blushin' a ton. Is it Stallioncry? Dear StarClan, you and him are all the Clan's talking about."

Stallioncry shrugged. "Well! Looks like we have hunting to do." He smiled at his apprentice. "Pick another warrior to come with us," he told her.

As Tallshadow approached, it wasn't hard to see him trying to flirt with Songpaw. "Let's take Tallshadow, he's a good hunter!" she announced to her mentor, wanting to get the tom away from Songpaw. Songpaw was way too young for him and she was a medicine cat anyway, what he was doing wasn't good.

"Excellent choice!" Stallioncry praised. "Tallshadow, you're coming on a hunting patrol with us!" he called to the tom, his usual smile on his face.

Darkpaw stalked up to Beartalon and sat silently beside his mentor.

Tallshadow flattened his ears. "I'm busy. I'm going to help Songpaw restock the catmint supply." He forced an apologetic smile before glancing down at the medicine cat apprentice. I've already been interrupted once. I've got to have a better excuse!

A small flare of annoyance flashed by Bluepaw but she didn't show it. "It's Redstar's orders, Tallshadow. I'm sure he wouldn't be very happy if he found out you ignored the patrol leaders orders. Songpaw can take a different cat with her," she meowed with a vicious innocence in her tone.

"It's all right, I'll send Flightpaw to help Songpaw," Stallioncry meowed. "Flightpaw! Can you help Songpaw restock the catmint?" he called.

The silver apprentice nodded and got to her paws. "Sure thing Stallioncry." She trotted off to the medicine cat den, her tail high and eyes bright/
